Happy Anniversary to the guy that made me fall in love with horses again. After everything I went through, this gentle, loving soul helped me put the pieces back together. I am grateful for every day I have spent with him over the last year and can’t wait for many more trips around the sun together!

Horse Show Recap!

We have been full steam ahead this season! After Blue Angel Dressage in Pensacola mid April, we ventured back to Folsom, LA for Le Bon Tempis II.

Artie and I did well last weekend at 4th 3, earning a 65.7 and a 67.8 despite horrendous weather conditions. We’re still trying to figure out PSG but we’re slowly improving and getting respectable scores. We came home with a 1st, second, and high point ribbon from Blue Angel… and 3 - 1st’s and one high point ribbon from Le Bon Tempis.

Dianna and Laren continue to improve each and every time they go out and I could not be more proud of this pair. They did their first ever freestyles at Blue Angel, earning a 64.5 each day, and a 65 at 1st 3. At Le Bon Tempis, they improved their freestyle score by a whopping 4.5 points… earning a 69 and a 65.7 at 1st 3, providing them with the last score needed for her 1st level rider achievement award.

What a privilege it is to be exhausted each day from doing the very thing I always dreamed of. On to the next!!!

Here’s something that I think every rider should know…

Success isn’t measured in blue ribbons… it’s not always even in getting a good score…

It’s about recognizing the effort that your horse gives you and being grateful for it, even if it’s not perfect…

It’s those quiet moments at home when you smile at the mistakes because your horse gives you more than what you ask for…

It’s about the progress you make as a team… about the little things like a better transition or softer contact…

Being hungry and making progress isn’t about comparing yourself to everyone else… about wishing you were somewhere or something that you’re simply not…

It’s about enjoying the hacks out, about what you learned in your last lesson, about that ever building bond, about being you and worrying less about being better than everyone else… and focusing on being just a little bit better than you were yesterday…

Embrace your mistakes… because that’s what makes you better…

And love every moment of what you do… because life is short and we are all so very lucky to be able to do what we do…

Long post alert!
Thursday was my birthday and I had one wish… to achieve my USDF Silver medal… and my wish finally came true.
Thank you to my family for supporting me in this insane dream that I am chasing… even in the moments where it seems to no longer makes sense.
Billy Shuck and Kimberly Schumann, I love you more than you will ever know.
Thank you to my vet for holding my hand through the good times and the bad. Your support over these last two years has been a blessing and I’m so glad to have the privilege of calling you my friend.
Thank you to my farrier for your unwavering dedication to myself and my team. I always look forward to our conversations about the horses and life. We are better because of you!
Thank you to Christian Garweg for giving me such a solid foundation in dressage and for partnering me with the horse of my dreams.
Thank you to Stephen for giving us the tools and the confidence to ride down centerline. To say I’m grateful for your support over these last few months would be an understatement.
Thank you to Lara Markel for your meticulous work making sure that every detail of our new saddle was absolutely perfect.
Thank you to Tashina Hadley Heiser for pulling so many strings to even make this possible. I simply wouldn’t have my Silver had it not been for everything you did for me this weekend.
Thank you to Olivia Meacham for coming to take pictures and videos for us. This was certainly a day I will cherish forever. I’m glad I got to share it with you!
Thank you Dianna Radominski for being my ride-or-die this show season. I have had so much fun traveling with you!
And finally, thank you to all of my friends and clients that stand beside me on a daily basis. My dreams are made possible by your love and enthusiasm.
It all seems a bit surreal… this coming Sunday marks one year since Mikey’s passing and all of my dreams came crashing down around me… for the longest time I was afraid that my journey was done.
Now I can breath a bit deeper, smile a bit brighter, and walk a bit lighter knowing that we made it. We will keep working hard and moving forward. I can’t wait to see what’s to come.

Artie and I made our recognized debut together this past weekend. Unfortunately it didn’t go quite as well as I had hoped, but I was so happy with the effort that he put forward. The buzzing atmosphere, 20+ mph winds, and freezing temperatures were definitely a challenge! It was an excellent learning experience and I’m looking forward to our next attempt in March!

I wanted to give a special thanks to Lara Markel for really going the extra mile to make sure our saddle is fitting perfectly. A few small adjustments this weekend make a remarkable difference!
