Don’t let anyone convince you that dry kibble is safer to feed your pet over minimally processed pet food.

In the past 5 years, over 69 million pounds of pet food have been recalled. The leading cause was mold contamination (aflatoxins), accounting for 60 million pounds, all from ultra-processed kibble.

The second most common reason was bacterial contamination. 8 million pounds were recalled due to harmful bacteria like Salmonella and Listeria. Kibble made up 97.7% of these recalls.

Refrigerated cooked foods accounted for 1.4%

Raw pet food was even lower, at just 0.7%

When it comes to safety, the data is clear: minimally processed pet food isn’t the risk—ultra-processed kibble is.

Prebiotic Toppers for your Dog's Bowl! 🫐

While dogs and cats don’t require added starch to be healthy, they do need healthy sources of fiber to maintain a thriving microbiome🦠, and consumption of only protein and healthy fats are inadequate for this purpose. Their gastrointestinal ecosystems need fiber-dense roughage (aka the prebiotic fibers that constitute “good carbs”) without the added glycemic index/sugar spike of consuming refined, highly processed starch. The “good carbs/bad carbs” discussion can be summed up by most nutritionists in one statement: there’s a big metabolic difference between eating broccoli and eating white bread.

🥄Start with small amounts, rotate ingredients, and serve raw or lightly steamed.

👉 You can find more on building a better bowl with the right fiber-rich foods and fresh toppers in our book The Forever Dog LIFE - packed with practical tips, recipes, and nutrition insights.

Great news this morning. We have now finished testing the ability to enter your dog twice in the same trial! So that will be available immediately but READ THIS WHOLE POST FOR RESTRICTIONS!

Not all Clubs will offer this option. Clubs will be updating their Event listings and premiums soon. In general, if it's not offered, you enter 1 Regular class per Trial (except you can enter Instinct and Novice in the same trial). Clubs may offer up to 2 Trials per day.

If offered, there are only certain classes that can be entered this way. At least one must be a B class. See the listing in the rules (and copypasta here). YOU CANNOT ENTER MASTER B TWICE IN THE SAME TRIAL (just yelling because I know some of you will ask :) ). You can enter two different B classes but not twice in the same class level.

And obviously, you can't enter a Class you aren't yet eligible to enter. So you can't enter Novice B plus Senior A if you don't have a RATO yet.

Contact your Club to see if they will be offering these options. Clubs which regularly fill very quickly almost certainly will not. Clubs that don't fill may but are not required to.
