Starting Monday, August 4, we're excited to launch Classen View Bark 'n Brews— a monthly event that brings together great coffee, happy pets, and our amazing community!

On the first Monday of every month, our friends from Joy Cart Coffee will be at Classen View serving complimentary coffee to clients visiting the clinic between 9-11 am!

And because we couldn't leave out our four-legged friends...
🐶 Dogs can enjoy a complimentary Classen Pup Cup, complete with whipped cream and a Milk-Bone treat! (While supplies last.)

We recently said goodbye to a very special member of our Classen View family - our beloved clinic pup, Gabe.

For so many years, Gabe welcomed clients with a wagging tail, offered quiet comfort to those in need, and reminded us every day of the unconditional love that pets bring into our lives.

He wasn’t just our clinic dog- he was our coworker, our greeter and our friend. His paw prints are forever woven into the story of our clinic, and his absence will be deeply felt by our team.

Cats are masters at hiding discomfort, which means dental disease can go unnoticed long before they show obvious signs of pain.

Recently, Walter and Flex visited us for their dental care, helping protect more than just their smiles. Annual dental cleanings and oral exams play an important role in your cat's overall health and can help prevent problems before they become more serious.

Did you know?
By age 3, most cats have some degree of dental disease.

Left untreated, dental disease can lead to:
🦷 Painful teeth and gums
😿 Bad breath
🍽️ Difficulty eating
🦠 Infection that can affect other parts of the body

Some signs your cat may need a dental evaluation include:
• Bad breath
• Red or swollen gums
• Yellow or brown tartar buildup

🎆 Keeping Our Pets Comfy This 4th of July Week! 🐾

We all love a good summer celebration, but the loud pops and bangs that come with the 4th of July can be a little much for our furry, feathered, and scaly family members.

Since the neighborhood festivities usually start early and last for days, the Classen View team wants to make sure your pets stay totally safe and relaxed all week long. Here are a few easy ways to prep:

📋 BEFORE THE BIG BOOMS
• Set up a cozy cave: Pick a quiet, indoor room and fill it with their favorite blankets, toys, and maybe some background music or white noise to drown out sudden sounds.

• Tag team: Make sure their ID tags are secure, and microchip info is up to date, just in case they get spooked and try to make a run for it.

• Ask about extra comfort: If your pet gets really anxious during storms or fireworks, give us a call ahead of time to talk about anxiety support options!

🍔 AT THE COOKOUT
• Keep them inside: Even if they love the backyard, it’s best to keep them safely indoors when the fireworks really start going off.

• Skip the table scraps: Keep the BBQ plates out of reach! Classic cookout foods like onions, bones, and fatty meats can cause some major tummy trouble.

• Keep it cool: Make sure they have a nice, air-conditioned spot and plenty of fresh water to beat the summer heat.

🧹 THE MORNING AFTER
• Do a quick yard sweep: Before letting your dogs out to play the next morning, check the grass for any stray firework debris, trash, or leftover food skewers that might have landed overnight.

When 4-year-old Goldendoodle Queso came to see us for a skin and ear evaluation, Dr. Pate wanted to identify exactly what was causing his discomfort so we could create the most effective treatment plan possible.

With the help of veterinary assistant Alyssa, Dr. Pate performed an ear swab and analyzed the sample using our Vetscan Imagyst diagnostic system. Within minutes, the results showed that Queso's ears contained yeast (Malassezia) but no significant bacterial infection.

Why does that matter? 🤔

Not all ear infections are the same. Some are caused by yeast, some by bacteria, and some involve both. Identifying exactly what is present allows us to tailor treatment to each individual patient's needs.

The report shown in these photos is the actual diagnostic report generated from Queso's sample. Our Vetscan Imagyst technology can help us evaluate:

• Ear cytology
• Skin cytology
• Urine samples
• F***l samples
• Certain masses and growths

Many results are available in about 20 minutes, helping us reach an accurate diagnosis more quickly and get pets started on the right treatment sooner.
