There is no right or wrong way in how you bring forth your baby and how your birth looks. Peace-filled, roaring, holy, blood, sweat, tears…. I myself have had traumatic births, learning births, healing births….and everything in between. I have seen mothers in the throes in transition and triumphant after birth golden hour moments. Birth is messy because life is messy. We truly birth how we live. The depth of how deep we can meet ourselves is the depth of what we meet in labor. That is the beauty of it… the season of life we find ourselves… we are birthing a new woman within us. A new version of mother. Birth is a pilgrimage. It is a journey…a long haul. Not a sprint. Birth leaves no woman as it found her. That is what it was meant for✨ whether you roar your baby out loudly or breathe your baby down peacefully, you are being made into who you need to be for that baby, and yourself. Birth is an act of worship.

2023…. You were wild and amazing and beautiful and changed me in so many ways. I am so thankful to Jesus, The Faithful One…. Who continues to walk alongside and hold my hand through every change. Grateful to every mama + family who has entrusted me to be the birth keeper in the most sacred of moments. All the while I was pregnant with my 5th beautiful daughter Lydia Selah Joy. I took off the September-December with a few January 2 babies who decided they wanted to be born in 2023! After this year, I am still amazed and in awe of the strength, resilience, zeal, and beauty that women behold. It is a reflection of a faucet of ur Heavenly Father…. When life knocks women down, they get up stronger. I’ve seen healing births, teaching births, joy filled births and everything in between. My prayer as a doula for my clients is always this— that their birth is everything they NEED it to be. Birth changes us. Birth is worship.

For most, vaginal birth after cesarean (VBAC) carries lower risks than a repeat cesarean.

Every pregnancy is different and it is important to evaluate your situation carefully with a trusted healthcare provider.

Often when discussing a VBAC, uterine rupture is a specific risk mentioned. Uterine rupture occurs when there is a separation of the uterine wall. Having your uterus rupture can be life-threatening and serious, however, the risk of uterine rupture occurring is very rare, affecting less than 1% of those laboring after cesarean with a low transverse incision.

It is important for a birthing person to be well-educated and informed before making the choice to VBAC or to have a repeat cesarean.

This birth happened earlier in the year and stands out in my memories. Family B had walked through deep suffering, loss, and grief, prior to carrying and delivering this precious rainbow baby. One word that described how she carried herself through pregnancy and labor was JOY FULL…. Joy and peace that surpassed all of their understanding. Mama B was surrounded by her supportive husband, loving parents, sweet daughter, pups, and birth team/ birth photographer. The home was full of love as she labored by the fire on that cold January evening.

Joy is a beautiful fruit of the Spirit…it does not deny the reality in which we have suffered in this life. It is not a smile and fake it until you make it. Joy is the fruit of the trust of our Heavenly Father and delight in finding ourself in Him in the midst of good times and hard times. Joy had never been taken from them. It was their badge of honor. They had found deeper trust and joy in grief. Wholeness in Him. Joy was their portion. Jesus was truly glorified in them, because you could tell their satisfaction was in Him. I learned so much from this precious family. Thank you for allowing your life to be a living testimony of what it means to wait on The Lord. Trials came but you preserved. You did not give up hope. Loss after loss after loss after loss…it was made well with your soul.

It was very important to her to have the 4 candles burning as she labored, welcoming in her rainbow baby…each candle representing the babies she has lost before. It was truly sacred and so beautifully honoring. Welcoming your rainbow baby was sacred and pure. What a heavenly moment it was to witness. Love you Family B so so deeply. Thank you for teaching us all, what it looks like to be joy-filled, even after great loss. May there be more jewels in your crown in heaven. And sweet sounds of children laughing and running into your arms when we come face to face with our Savior one day. Until He returns, or calls us home 🫶🏼👑 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍

We announced on my personal page, but wanted to share with everyone here on my business page….my husband and I are expecting our 5th beautiful child the end of summer. Baby is happy and healthy. The Lord is so very good. The Father of Lights is a giver of all good gifts that come from above. We had the privilege of getting to go away, just the two of us, on a wonderful trip to Portland + Seattle / Pacific NW coast. I had a little over 6 weeks off-call that was a beautiful unplanned gift where February births happened earlier than expected and took half of March off. March babies are all here and now all April babies are next🫶🏼

This summer is FULL of ALL the babies and I’m so very excited!!!

My books are full and I’m planning on being back for a very select few after my baby is here until December. Repeats and friends who have already reached out for pre-conception support will only be taken on. Thank you everyone for respecting this transition and new season and celebrating with us. We have felt everyone’s love and support during this time and we are so grateful 🫶🏼💕

Will baby be here in August or September? What do you think? These new polls are fun 🥳

Happy World Doula Week🏮💡🕯️

The first day of mentorship, I stared into 10 beautiful bright eyes, eager and ready to learn and grow as doulas. I proceeded to explain to them an analogy I felt was as close to what a doula is and does— doulas are lighting up the path the mother is walking on in her pregnancy and birth journey. She is figuring out where to go and what is needed, as the doula, stands on the side of the path, walking alongside her, holding up a lamp for her. She gently warns of dangers, she encourages her when she needs to rest and when she needs to nourish herself. She yields off any predators that may try to come up from behind in the forest. She protects, she loves fiercely, and is a truth teller.

Doulas are the water girl, the fix her hair and put a cool rag on the back of her neck gal, encourage mothers when we start to see overwhelm take over her face and eyebrows, loving reminders to let go, surrender, trust, and to remind her of her “why” and the strength that is already within. Doulas are the “do not touch her or perform anything without proper consent” and watchful of any wolves in sheep’s clothing. We make plates of food after birth, grab mother’s favorite meal, or pull her hair back when she vomits. We are the hip squeezers, back scratchers, and holders of mothers as they catch their own baby…. Our job is not glamorous….but it is raw and holy. We serve out of the depths of our heart, because we have been there, too. And when you send thank you cards, letters, sweet posts or texts saying “I couldn’t have done it without you”, we will respond “yes, you could have, but I was so very honored to serve you and witness your strength”.

Continuous amounts of thank you’s to all the women and families who extend the invitation to be welcomed into what I believe to be one of the most sacred acts a human can and will ever do….open the portal of her body to bring what once was heaven side, to earth. This will never get old. My passion for serving has only intensified.

This work is Holy

S/O to for the beautiful photo 🫶🏼

Our is all about Midwifery care!

We know that not everyone who becomes pregnant will have the ability to use midwifery care.

A midwife is someone trained in the natural process of pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum. They differ from physicians in that they are not trained in surgical procedures.

Midwifery care has been around for centuries and spans across countless cultures and countries. This model of care is based in forming trusting and individualized care. Midwives support women in whatever type of birth they choose, often assisting in undisturbed, physiological labors and births.
