The answer is..... FLEA DIRT! So what Exactly is Flea Dirt? 🤔🪳

You might’ve heard the term "flea dirt" before, but… what is it really?

👉 Spoiler: It’s not just dirt. It’s flea p**p- yep! Tiny black specks made of digested blood left behind by fleas on your pet's skin. 😬

🕵️‍♀️ How to tell it’s flea dirt?
Try this:
1️⃣ Place some of the black specks on a damp paper towel.
2️⃣ Wait a minute or two.
3️⃣ If it turns reddish-brown, it’s flea dirt- not regular dirt. That color comes from the blood fleas have been feeding on. 🤢

🐶🐱 What does it mean if you see it?
It’s a sign your pet has fleas- even if you don’t see the bugs themselves. Fleas are sneaky, but their “dirt” gives them away!

✅ What to do next:
✔️ Make an appointment
✔️ Treat all pets in the household
✔️ Wash bedding & vacuum like crazy
✔️ Use vet-recommended flea prevention

Treatment takes 3 months to target the entirety of the flea life cycle, so patience is required.

Today we are chatting Retained Baby Teeth in Dogs 🐶

Did you know your dog’s puppy teeth are supposed to fall out by around 6 months old?
Sometimes they don’t get the memo...and these retained deciduous teeth can cause trouble.

💡 What are they?
They’re baby teeth that didn’t fall out when the adult teeth came in. This is especially common with small breeds like Chihuahuas, Yorkies, and Pomeranians.

🚨 Why it matters:
When both the baby tooth and the adult tooth try to share the same spot, it can cause:
• Crowding & crooked teeth 🦷
• Food trapping → bad breath & tartar buildup 🤢
• Gum irritation or even damage to the adult tooth

🩺 What to do:
If you notice double teeth, don’t wait until your dog’s next birthday. Your vet may recommend removing the baby tooth- often at the same time as a spay/neuter to keep things simple.

🐕‍🦺 Bottom line: Puppy teeth are cute, but when they overstay their welcome, they can cause lifelong dental problems. A quick vet check now can save your dog pain later.

✅ Make sure your pet’s microchip is registered
✅ Update your contact information if it’s changed
✅ Have your vet scan the chip to ensure it’s still working
