Puppy paws should be exploring the world — not battling a preventable illness. 🐾❤️

If you’ve recently adopted a puppy or brought home a new rescue, make sure they’re fully protected. We’re here to help every step of the way.

🦠 April is Prevent Lyme Disease in Dogs Month — and it couldn’t be more relevant here in Minnesota. Did you know that nearly 20,000 positive Lyme tests on dogs were reported in Hennepin County alone last year? 😱 And surrounding counties saw similar percentages of their pup population test positive.

Ticks are out there — but we can fight back. 💪
✔️ Monthly tick preventatives stop ticks before they can transmit Lyme.
✔️ The Lyme vaccine offers an added layer of protection for at-risk dogs.
✔️ Daily tick checks after outdoor adventures are a must (don’t forget between the toes and behind the ears!).
✔️ Stick to well-groomed paths and avoid tall grasses when walking your dog.

Want to protect your pup? Let’s talk about the best prevention plan for your dog’s lifestyle. 🐾

Lost tags, outdated info, no microchip? Uh-oh. 😬 It’s Pet ID Week, and we're here with a friendly nudge: when was the last time you checked your pet’s ID?

Even the most well-behaved pets can slip out the door or get spooked on a walk. Making sure they have up-to-date ID tags and a working microchip gives them the best chance of getting back home safely.

✔️ Use a collar with current ID, rabies, and license tags (where required)
✔️ Tags should include your name, phone number, and address—update them if anything has changed
✔️ Even indoor cats should wear ID tags—unexpected escapes can happen
✔️ Microchipping adds an extra layer of security—shelters and veterinary hospitals always scan for chips.

Not sure if your pet’s microchip is active or current? We can help you check at your next appointment!

Easter lilies and cats don’t mix—ever. Ingesting even a tiny bit of a lily leaf or licking their fur after brushing past a lily can be life-threatening for cats. These blooms can cause acute kidney failure in just hours.

Please avoid bringing lilies into any cat-loving home. Try tulips (out of reach!) or a bright bouquet of gerbera daisies as a safer spring pick-me-up!

April is Pet First Aid Awareness Month! Just like us, our pets can get into situations that may require quick thinking and first aid. It’s always a good idea to be prepared! Here are some essential (and sometimes overlooked!) items to have in your pet first aid kit:

✅ Styptic powder (stops bleeding quickly in case of cuts or nails getting torn)
✅ Instant cold packs (for swelling, bruising, or sprains)
✅ Pet-safe saline solution (for flushing wounds or eyes)
✅ Syringe (for giving water or medicine in an emergency)
✅ Muzzle (to protect yourself if your pet is in pain and might bite)

Along with having the right materials, it's important to know how to act in an emergency. Some basic first aid skills include:

🩹 CPR – Learning pet CPR could save your pet’s life if they stop breathing.
🩺 Wound care – Knowing how to clean and dress wounds and stop bleeding can help keep your pet safe while in transport to our hospital or an emergency facility.
⚠️ Choking first aid – If your pet is choking, knowing how to clear their airway without pushing the blockage in further can help.
🧴 Poison control – Be aware of common toxic substances for pets and know when to call for help.

We hope you'll take this month as a reminder to be prepared for any emergency situation. If you’d like to learn more about pet first aid or need advice on building your own kit, don’t hesitate to reach out or to bring it up at your pet's next appointment!

🦟❤️ Heartworm disease is a serious (and potentially fatal) condition that every pet owner should know about. Here are the key facts:

🦟 Transmitted by Mosquitoes – It only takes one bite from an infected mosquito for your pet to be at risk.

🐶 Dogs Are the Most Common Hosts – But cats and even ferrets can get heartworm disease too!

🚫 Prevention is WAY Easier Than Treatment – Monthly preventatives and heartworm prevention injectables are safe, effective, and much less costly than treating an active infection.

⚠️ Heartworm Disease Can Be Silent – Pets may not show symptoms until the disease is advanced, making yearly testing essential.

💊 Prevention is Year-Round – Even in colder months, mosquitoes can be active, and skipping doses puts your pet at risk.

Don’t wait until it’s too late—schedule your pet’s annual heartworm test and make sure they’re protected! Call us today! 📞🐾

It’s Pooper Scooper Week! 💩 Picking up after your pet isn’t just about keeping your shoes clean—it’s about keeping our community healthy and happy! Here’s why scooping the p**p matters:

🐾 Prevent Disease – Pet waste can carry harmful bacteria and parasites that pose risks to both pets and people. Just a single gram of doggie doo can contain 23 million f***l coliform bacteria - some of which are really scary like E. coli, Campylobacter, and Salmonella.

🌊 Protect Waterways – Rain can wash pet waste into lakes, rivers, and streams, contaminating our water.

⚖️ It’s the Law – Many cities require pet owners to clean up after their pets. Don’t risk a fine—just scoop!

🐶 Set a Good Example – When you pick up after your pet, others are more likely to do the same.

🏡 Nice Neighbor Vibes – No one likes stepping in surprises! Being a responsible pet parent helps keep sidewalks, parks, and yards clean.

So grab a bag, scoop the p**p, and let’s keep our community clean! Who’s with us? 🙌

Instead of playing tricks on you this , we’re here to help you prank your pet! 😆🐾 Here are some harmless, hilarious ideas to keep your furry friend guessing (and maybe a little confused):

🐾 The "Where’s the Rest?!" Dinner Prank – Serve up one single kibble like it’s a five-star meal… then reveal the real dinner. (We’re not monsters!)

🐾 The Fake Throw – Pretend to launch their favorite toy… and watch them search in vain. (Follow up with the real deal, of course!)

🐾 The Mysterious Meow/Bark – Play a recording of another animal and see if they go on high alert. Intruder?! Nope, just you.

🐾 Furniture Swap – Relocate their bed to a new spot and enjoy their "Wait… wasn’t this over there?" face.

🐾 Invisible Treat Trick – Pretend to hand them a treat… then reveal "Psych! Here’s the real one."

🐾 The Disappearing Act – Hide and call their name - see if they can find you!

Which prank are you trying first? Let us know what pranks they fall for! 😂🐶🐱
