Across the country and around the world, August 26 is a day dedicated to dogs 🐶

It’s a day to celebrate dogs, recognize the good they do in our communities and the love they bring to our homes, and raise awareness around issues that impact our furry companions.

Looking for ways to participate in National Dog Day this year?

• Find a local opportunity—look for NDD social gatherings or educational events—to attend and meet fellow dog lovers.
• Contribute your time at an animal rescue or shelter this month.
• Share the mission of community organizations doing good for dogs with your social networks.

This National Dog Day, consider buying your pup a little treat 🦓 and then helping MN SNAP spread the word!

MN SNAP provides accessible spay and neuter services and other vital veterinary care for dogs (and cats) to end suffering from overpopulation and to help pets live longer, healthier lives. https://mnsnap.org/why-spay-neuter/

Creating a will, or estate planning more broadly, is sometimes misunderstood as something only those with significant wealth should do. The truth is, anyone can create a lasting legacy by specifying how you want your assets to be distributed both during your life and after your passing.

If you’d like your legacy to reflect making an impact on animal welfare, consider including MN SNAP in your estate planning—an investment in prevention that stops overpopulation.

A legacy gift—no matter the size—is a powerful way to extend your generosity beyond your lifetime and extend your support of Minnesota’s cats and dogs.

All summer, MN SNAP’s mobile clinic is on the road visiting communities where accessible veterinary care can be hard to find. As the Pennington County Humane Society, serving Thief River Falls and the surrounding area, explains:

ā€œOur rural region has limited access to veterinary care, VERY lengthy wait times, and a community of pet owners who deeply love their animals but often lack financial means or transportation for routine and preventative care. For many families here, affordable spay/neuter options are difficult to find without programs like MN SNAP.ā€

After our recent visit, the team at the Humane Society expressed appreciation and shared:

ā€œMN SNAP’s work means fewer litters surrendered; families able to care for their pets without overwhelming financial strain; healthier, longer lives for animals; and less pressure on the limited resources in Minnesota’s rural regions.ā€

MN SNAP thanks you—every generous donor, committed volunteer, dedicated staff member, and invaluable community partner like the Pennington County Humane Society—for making this impact possible!

🐈 On National Cat Day, we’d like to take a moment to celebrate these purrrrr-fect animals!

Each cat is truly one-of-a-kind with an unmistakable personality that fills our hearts with love and joy. At MN SNAP, we think the people that care for cats are pretty special too ā¤ļø Here’s to all the cat families, community caregivers, and rescue/shelter partners that take such good care of cats in Minnesota!

We are proud of the part we play in keeping Minnesota cats healthy. Last year, with the support of generous donors, MN SNAP provided accessible veterinary care to a total of 11,357 owned and community cats, spay and neuter services that prevent unplanned litters and improve feline health.

And now, in honor of National Cat Day, let’s see those heart-warming photos of the cat(s) in your life!

Today we take the opportunity to celebrate a meaningful partnership that’s nearing an exciting milestone.

Second Chance Animal Rescue's Generosity + MN SNAP’s Accessible Veterinary Care

= Nearly 3,500 Pets Spayed/Neutered Since 2014

Second Chance Animal Rescue’s dedication to cats and dogs begins with rescuing, caring for, and adopting out homeless pets into loving homes. But it doesn’t end there.

Second Chance is also deeply committed to the prevention of pet overpopulation. This commitment includes generous funding over the past twelve years to support MN SNAP’s spay and neuter services for community cats and pets in low-income households.

Between January and June 2026, Second Chance Animal Rescue’s generosity supported MN SNAP services for 84 cats and 19 dogs and their loving families as well as 89 community cats and their kind caretakers.

Thank you, Second Chance Animal Rescue, for your consistent support over the years.

With amazing community partners and donors, MN SNAP prevents overpopulation and ends suffering as we keep Minnesota cats and dogs healthy!

🐶National Mutt Day🐶

Today we're celebrating those one-of-a-kind dogs who keep us guessing. A bit of labrador, a glimpse of poodle, or a mix of something you can’t quite put your finger on? No matter. We love our mutts!

And whatever the breed, there’s always a need for accessible veterinary care.

MN SNAP is proud to provide dogs (and cats) of all shapes, sizes, and breeds affordable spay and neuter services, giving pets a healthy life and families peace of mind.

Together, we help ensure every pet—purebred or perfectly mixed—has access to the care they deserve. 🐾
