We had a 90 minute Trail Ride today and what an experience. Thankfully the couple that was on the ride was gracious and understanding. It was one of those rides that if it was going to happen it did.
So with the 90 min ride we ride outside the fence on the old railroad spur that goes thru our property. When we went thru the gate another horse decided to go thru with us. I guess he wanted to go on the ride as well. So now we have all the trail riders outside the fence PLUS a loose horse. So Jami jumped off her horse came to me to get an extra lead rope that I always carry to get Beau... the lose horse to lead him back to the gate and pasture. As she was focused on getting Beau, her horse Blaze decides to take advantage of the situation and thought the grass on the other side was greener. Literally!!! He slowly walked away from the other horses, casually walked across the gravel road and started munching on the grass on the other side. So, Kenzie and another helper Brayden walked their horses towards Blaze and of course he walked just out of their reach. The couple that was on the ride, were calm, easy going and very patient. Once Blaze was caught I took our riders and continued on with our ride. I knew the rest would catch up. Another helper Sally came with me and we continued with our ride.
NEXT came the rain. It was actually refreshing. It slowly rained, cooled everyone including the horses. Again our riders were very upbeat, and gracious with everything that happened on this ride.
The rest of the group caught up with us and they were excited as they as they all got to COWBOY!!!
All in all it was a great ride...
I am so THANKFUL for my customers today for staying calm, trusting our judgement and being patient in the potential chaos.
I am so THANKFUL to all my helpers and family who knew instantly what to do, did it without me having to ask or direction and most importantly everyone stayed calm, talked quietly to the horses and took care of everything.
I am so Thankful!!!!

DAY 4 HORSE CAMP
Last day of Horse Camp at South Timber Creek Ranch. We say goodbye to all of our friends today!!!! Many renewed old friendships and made new friends. Today the campers received their t shirts that had their Cowboy Code on the front and our rescue horses on the back. In addition the kiddos finished up their own cowboy hats. They made a design in perle beads that were glued to the front of their hats and then decorated the rest. On day one, we informed them that just like in the old west..... we had a jail too. Well today some of the campers wanted to check it out!!!!! It was hard to say goodbye but hopefully they will take a little of the spirit of the West with them!!!!

IF HORSES WERE IN HIGH SCHOOL

Quarter horses: Definitely jocks. Strutting around flexing those muscles and showing off their butts. Responsible for all the trophies in the glass case.

Paints: Quarter horses with too much make-up.

Thoroughbreds: Preppies. They are athletes never jocks, monogrammed blankets, leather halters, Nike eventer shoes and the latest custom trailer and tack.

Appaloosas: Stoners. the like to drop acid so they can watch their spots move.

Arabians: RAH! RAH! SIS MOOM BAH! GGGOOOOOOOO TEAM!( Need I say more?)

Shetland ponies: Punks. Spikey hairdos, snotty attitudes and any colour of the rainbow.

Friesians: Bikers. Big, buff, always black, cigs hanging out the corner of their mouths and a dangerous glint in their eye.

Morgans: Nerdy teachers pet running around doing everything from yearbook to decorating the gym and rattling the bikers, stoners and jocks.

Drafts (All breeds): No real clique they're just the big guys who sit in the back of the room and fart a lot.

Hackney ponies: Band geeks. Marching along with their heads and knees held high, even going to the bathroom.

Warmbloods: The school staff and faculty. Looking down their noses with righteous indignation and disgust.

Minis: Primary school students.

Donkeys: Would be the teachers with the ability 'to think' and remember what happened the day before. Less likely to step on your feet when dancing.

Saddlebreds: The ones riddled the teen angst, the artsy, drama club type?

Percheron: Cafeteria ladies.

Mustangs: The free spirits and the "rebels without a cause".

The PTA would be aged broodmares only.

Football team: Well the Budweiser Clydesdale's of course!!!!
