It’s been a busy week but managed to work with a few of the younger juniors tonight! My favorite of the night was this cute 10 week old otter doe, little miss Honeybee 🍯

Please watch. This is a very important lesson I think everyone rabbit owner should see, regardless if it’s a pet or show rabbit. Unfortunately we lost one last night to a choking incident and we were not in the Rabbitry to intervene.

Raw and unfiltered late night litter evaluations. Sometimes jugging a baby and having time to sort and play with babies means Rabbitry time is after little man is in bed 🫣😅

This litter specifically encompasses the old age with the new age within the Rabbitry. They are out of my all time foundation brood doe HHS Amelia Island, she is all ARS Bred and was the very first brood doe welcomed into the Rabbitry in 2021 when we restarted our herd after nearly 10 years out of the hobby. This is her final litter before retirement and showcases exactly how valuable this doe truly is.
This litter was sired by Smokin Roses Dimitri, a carbon copy of his sire ARS Aftershock. The goal of this litter was in incorporate the width of body back into the herd. As we’ve been focusing on more depth of body and topline the last few years we have lost some of the overall width needed to balance animals in addition to a more ideal shorter head/ear.

These three juniors are exactly what we were hoping to achieve! They are still young, only about 9 weeks old, but already extremely promising and we are excited to watch them continue to develop. We already did the initial cull at weaning last week, leaving us with 2 junior does and 1 junior buck to growout.

We have well over 10 black juniors growing out so we are having to be extra picky with who we keep back for spring but so far all three will be staying 🖤

We have a side load 6 hole dwarf breed carrier available that we will work on getting pictures of today. Each slot is about 8x8 so great for juniors or the extra small breeds. Just a little small for adult mini Rex.

We have had a super busy and productive few days in the Rabbitry! (So don’t mind our appearance 😂🫣)

Weaned some litters, did herd evaluations, cull drop off, trimmed nails, and bred a bunch of does!

Today specifically we did weaning day evaluations on three super cute little does!

Quinn and I made the trek up to mom’s farm today to do some herd evaluations at our third location! Lots of sorting and updates to come! May even have a few buns 👀 stay tuned! 💜

We have been overrun with blacks and broken blacks. So we were super excited to finally have an otter cross due!

Out of Smokin Roses Gamma (Broken Black Otter) x QB’s PrettyBoy (Black Otter - 2 legs)

But they had other plans, out of the three brokens produced. 2/3 are broken blacks 😂😅

Gamma is doing absolutely fantastic for her first litter and even has a solid black foster out of Smokin Roses Aries x Smokin Roses Scorpio!
