Just a friendly reminder to use heartworm prevention 12 months out of the year. Prevention is more economical than treatment.

Be penny-wise not pound foolish! Give your pets monthly heartworm preventive or one of the longer-term injections for dogs.

UPDATE: Pup has been reunited with her owner😊

Lost pup looking for her humans: A concerned citizen found this cute gal in the street near 3rd Street and State Street and brought her to us to check for a microchip. Unfortunately no chip😒. If you recognize this puo, call our hospital at 641-758-3333 so we can help get her back home!

Also, as a reminder, its always a good idea to microchip, so if your pet decides to take a stroll, we have a better chance of getting owner and pet reunited!

Meet Ellie: This sweet pup found herself in a tricky situation. Lucky for her Dr. Franken was here to help!

Last week Ellie was rushed to our hospital after her family discovered she got a bone lodged around her lower jaw. While pet owners often think bones seem like a good treat, if a dog chews on them just right, they can become lodged around the lower jaw just like happened to Ellie and it can turn into an emergency situation.

Thankfully her quick thinking family brought her to our hospital for emergency care. Dr. Franken, Jody and Cora sprang into action as soon as she arrived and safely removed the bone. After the impressive removal, Ellie appreciated all the cheers and attention from our team. Ellie is now back home and feeling so much better (and hopefully not performing any more stunts with bones)❤️

We are so thankful we could help Ellie through this scary ordeal and even happier to see her happily wagging her tail immediately after it was removed.
