Meet Drs. Tatiana Paz, Mikkela Cabanillas, Talis Rehse and Irene Dobles — our new interns. Each will rotate through all 13 KVDL specialty sections, which provides a great foundation toward being accepted into a competitive clinical and anatomic pathology residency programs across North America.

Those specialty sections are bacteriology, histology, molecular service, molecular research and development, necropsy, next generation sequencing, parasitology, rabies, serology, toxicology and virology. Each intern spends time with the section heads learning diagnostic test result interpretation.

The Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory has expanded its diagnostic medicine internship program to four interns in response to high demand. Ensuring the health of livestock, companion animals and wildlife resources are primary missions at the KVDL. Our faculty and staff provide critical support for a wide range of biologic researchers and train the veterinarians, researchers and diagnosticians of tomorrow.

The Kansas Veterinary Diagnostic Lab drives $2.5 billion in economic value for the state and is set to grow with a new $128 million facility on the north end of K-State's Manhattan campus.
