Mittens full of kittens! Could there be anything better?
These sweet little ones are Gabriel, Mycah, and Top Dollar. They are 4 weeks old today and being fostered by Joanne. Their mom was feral, and has been trapped, spayed and vaccinated (TNR). She has a caregiver now, and will live a much better life.
It’s might be a Monday, but it’s always important to smile. It can brighten someone’s day. This big smile sure brightens ours!
As we close veterinary receptionist week, we give ourselves another moment to reflect on how much our amazing front desk team do for our team, our patients, and our pet parents!
No two days at the front desk are the same, and you can guarantee they’re always multi tasking. They’re the very definition of “fast paced job” and they make it look easy! That’s when you know it’s done well.
Thank you! We appreciate all that you do. 🤍🐾
It was bring your children to work day today and they don’t always have to be two-legged!
Can anyone guess who this little one belongs to?
Please note. We are closed today from 12:30pm to 3pm for a team meeting.
We will resume normal business hours from 3pm
Today marks the start of Veterinary Receptionist Week!
These are just a few of the characteristics of our wonderful front desk team.
We are so very thankful to work alongside such a fantastic team who are the backbone of our hospital!
Thank you to those that participate in this literally life saving event! You are very much appreciated!
Today is “Tomi Tuesday”!
This is Tomi, our amazing groomer. That’s Bruce next to her. He’s also amazing.
Each week we will be covering some do’s and don’ts when it comes to grooming, bathing, brushing and beautifying your pets!
Here’s a little about Tomi….
Q:How long have you been grooming?
A: About 22 years professionally, and 30 years with show dogs.
Q: What animals do you have at home?
A: I have my 12yr old Bichapoo, Elodie; my Uromastyx, Squish, a Peterbald cat named Ingrid, and a yellow boy kitty I rescued from under my porch a few years ago named JoJo.
Q: What’s your favorite thing about your job?
A: Easy! Getting to play with pups all day! That and forming bonds with pets that had a hard time being groomed/were nervous. That trust that is formed when they allow me to groom them without difficulty is priceless. I love them all!
We are so lucky to have Tomi at LVH. Stay tuned for more!
Dr. Strickland, Joanne, and T-Shirt!
Happy Monday everyone!
It’s National Pet Day and we’re highlighting all the beautiful pets at Loudoun County Animal Services that are waiting to become someone’s beloved pet.
If you have a moment, take a look at these sweet animals and also the amazing work that LCAS does!
Meet Anna! When you stop by and visit her, you might notice she walks with a wobble and sometimes falls over. That is because Anna has a condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH).
While Cerebellar Hypoplasia can be quite a mouthful to say - CH is not contagious and it is non-progressive, meaning it does not get worse with age. Cats with CH are not in any pain and can live happy, healthy lives! CH affects the cerebellum, which is the area of the brain that controls fine motor movement, balance and coordination. For Anna this means that she wobbles when she walks and sometimes falls over or gets unbalanced.
Anna isn't bothered by her condition, she has impressed us all with how she has adapted to life and how sweet, social and resilient she is! When Anna falls, she rolls right over and continues on her way. Anna loves all things head-scratchies, feather wand toys and catnip! Give her a paper bag filled with catnip and treats and she is happy to play with it for the rest of the day! Anna loves napping by your side while you work, will purr up a storm to get your attention and greet all her visitors with an inquisitive little 'meow'.
Anna is hoping to find a family who can see past her wobbles and love her as the wonderful, sweet and playful cat she is! Are you Anna's person? Come meet her today! We are open for adoptions from 11am-6pm, Monday-Sunday.
Poppy came in for her spay surgery and was given plenty of love from the amazing Taylor!
It’s National Siblings Day! Comment or DM us your pet sibling pics and we will reshare to our stories to celebrate them all!
Rhona and Bert! Bert and Rhona!
Just look at those whiskers!
Some pups want to stand on the table to get their vaccinations, some like to be cuddled then get all excited right after.
That was Ginger. Lots of snuggles and then the necessary zoomies!
We will keep you notified when they come back up, but rest assured we are working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
If you call us and you hear a bunch of sniffling and snuffling, that’s just Pippin. Tell him what the issue is, and he will direct you to the correct department.
These two were very curious about one another!
They’re both owned by our team members. Taylor owns Kiwi (Guinea Pig), and Brandon owns August (not a Guinea Pig).
We 🤍 all the critters at LVH!
Sebastian came in and wasn’t feeling too good. We made sure to take great care of him and kept him as comfortable as possible.
This sweet little house cat came in today and made fast friends with Dr. Strickland.
A great day with this sweet little kitty and such perfect weather too. Happy April 1st!
Joanne and McKinnsey share a moment together after McKinnsey’s surgery.

Today we had a lunch and learn put on by IDEXX.
Veterinary medicine is fast evolving and we are constantly learning new skills and acquiring new techniques and research.
New trends emerge constantly, so it is vital to keep learning and keep evolving!
Some of our team recently went down to Texas for a summit on leadership.
They learned a lot and had a lot of fun doing it too!
Raven found a little Leprachaun and the pup, sorry we meant Leprechaun; was happy to be toted around with her! 🤣☘️
Our team are getting into the spirit of things! Happy St. Patrick’s Day! ☘️
There’s no such thing as a cone of shame when you’re this adorable!

This engorged tick was found on a pet so we conducted a little experiment and sealed her in this jar for 3 weeks. As you can see she started to produce HUNDREDS of eggs. We left her in the jar for an additional week and as you can see she is STILL ALIVE and producing eggs! Year round prevention for our pets is necessary to not only repel but kill disease carrying ticks that could harm people and pets. Speak with your veterinarian to choose the preventative that's right for your pet.
Sweet Cosmo was making it very clear that we needed to be giving some hugs out at LVH. We happily obliged!
🐾When our patients are excited for the treats and don’t notice the treatment, that’s when we know we’re doing things right!
🐾 Dr. McCauley gave Toona an exam back in April and came up with a plan to aid Toona in some much needed weight loss. Check out Toona’s progress! ⬇️
🐾Rita and Batista came in to see us and naturally they did what Boxers do best. Batista even had a little sedation on board from a procedure and the wag was still strong!
This is Butters. Butters took a walk and unfortunately that involved walking on his parents newly tared driveway. His poor paws were a mess, but his owners brought their very much loved pet in immediately. Is Butters sedated here? Nope! With a little Fear Free treatment at our Cat Friendly practice, Butters felt like he was at spa LVH! Our amazing team member, Rhonda nursed Butters paws back to health. We have a blog article with more in depth photos, but for now, we wanted to share this video of this sweet cat. 🐾
We had such a wonderful time at the A.V. Symington Aquatic Center for their end of summer dog swim. We hope you enjoy these fun highlights! 🐾
Sometimes as well as medicine, the Doctor orders plenty of of snuggles all whilst wrapped in a kitty purrito! 🌯🐾
🎉Today we are celebrating AAHA Day. It’s a day that recognizes us as being part of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). 🔴 We voluntarily chose to be an “AAHA Hospital” and have them come out to evaluate us on over 900 different standards of care. Providing an elevated experience for your pet and you is something that is very important to us, and we are so proud to be part of the association. 📲 Dr. Strickland has a message for everyone giving his take on AAHA day.
