The Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter has reached out as there are 22 dogs at risk of euthanasia. We are working to try and help as much as we can, but cannot accept dogs on the transport if they do not have an adopter. The next scheduled transport would be Wednesday, Dec 6th. This gives us a little time to hopefully get the word out about these pups who want nothing more than a safe and loving home!

To apply to adopt a dog you can apply online (link below) or contact Christy at KRRAS as they can temperament test and provide more photos and videos. 🐶

Also, please feel free to message us if interested in a particular dog and we can provide direct contact information.

We know that a few on the list have need spayed or neutered:
Tyson
Lilith
Trooper
Baxter

What a night! 🐾 🐕 👩‍⚕️

The transport arrived late last night but that did not stop the clinic and the outpouring support from the potential adopters and fosters! We managed to get some photos and videos while the staff worked hard to booster vaccines, deworm, give preventatives, treat immediate ailments etc.

Big shout out to Dr. Susan Conway who spearheaded the entire process, our Hospital Manager-Paige, Lead Technician-Tara, Inventory Manager-Kasy, Coordinator-Ashley and her adorable daughter Lexi! All staff was fed by Andy’s Pizza in Lovettsville, who made the long delivery drive to us as their pizza is the staffs favorite! We all needed the fuel as we did not stop until 1 AM. 🍕

We also had a lot of help from vendors!
Lana from Boehringer Ingelheim donated all of the Nexgard Plus, Nexgard and Heartgard Prevention! Emily from Zoetis donated distemper vaccines and even is fostering a puppy from the transport! Our rep from Hill’s is sending free food this week for fosters and adopters. Last but not least, VIP Boarding Kennel has offered kennels for any dogs left without homes from the transport. 💪🏼

We had a few stay overnight at the clinic, the pups were welcomed by brand new beds, toys and a warm quiet place to rest. While staff shopped at Marshall’s for new dog beds, strangers purchased and donated dog beds to the cause. Random acts of kindness such as this are so touching and appreciated! 🫶🏼

We still have one lost soul who is in need of a foster or adopter, Arrow. Given this name due to the cruelty he persevered through. He was shot in the face by a human and walk for weeks as a community stray with an arrow in his jaw. He is a gentle giant.

To all fosters and adopters, we cannot thank you enough for giving these dogs a second chance. We could not do this without you. We are here to support every four legged best friend who made the long journey to Virginia in search of love! 💕

Please comment with photos of your new fur babies! 📸

Welcome Dr. Christy Trinidad! 🐾 👩‍⚕️

Our current staff of veterinarians; Dr. Keith Robbins, Dr. Susan Conway, Dr. Brian Carson and Dr. Marta Acha are excited to welcome another veterinarian to the clinic!

Dr. Christy Trinidad will be joining the team December 4th! Dr. Trinidad grew up on a small farm in California, where her father was a mixed animal veterinarian. She found her love for animals and always wanted to follow in her father’s footsteps. Throughout her undergraduate career she worked as a kennel technician, veterinary assistant and veterinary receptionist! After graduating from The University of Utah she then went on to achieve her Veterinary degree from The University of California Davis.

Dr. Trinidad has a passion for preventative medicine, urgent care, general surgery, and geriatric care. She is excited to help pets and their owners thrive at Catoctin Veterinary Clinic.

When she is not working she spends her time with her husband and adorable one year old son. Together they have 3 dogs (Bentley, Ana , Munchie), one cat (Juno) and a Mule (Rhonda). You can often find her hiking, trail riding or visiting a local winery!

To schedule an appointment with one of our highly proficient and caring veterinarians, give us a call at 703-777-8447.

Today was hopefully the first of many transports that we will be able to recieve from Kentucky River Regional Animal Shelter!

Dr. Susan Conway has created a relationship with the shelter and assisting them with placement of dogs who are at risk of euthanasia due to lack of space. Our wonderful clients have come out in droves to help rehome, adopt and/or foster some of these adorable pups. Many continued on the transport to other rescues up and down the East Coast to hopefully find their forever homes.

Please visit their website if you have an opening for another four legged friend in your household!

We had a celebrity stop by the clinic today! Dr. Clinton Pease, founder of Catoctin Veterinary Clinic, paid us a visit!

Dr. Pease opened Catoctin Vet in 1978 to service Leesburg and Loudoun County residents. He sold the practice to Dr. Robbins in 2006. Dr. Pease and Dr. Robbins were both graduates of Cornell’s Veterinary School which is how they connected.

Dr. Pease was so pleased to see the progress and expansion of the clinic. The team was told to keep up the good work and continue winning Loudoun’s Best Veterinary Practice! 🥇

With September being Leukemia & Lymphoma Awareness Month, we wanted to remind our pet parents of the benefit of regular wellness visits.

Attending a wellness visit 1-2xs a year, along with routine bloodwork, allows our team to identify any potential problems and provide early intervention.

Share this post to help spread the message that early intervention can save a life!
