We are officially getting into HOT summer territory here in South Louisiana! While summertime is the perfect time for family hangouts, vacations, and parties, we still want to keep those pets safe.🐱🐶❤️

🐾Hot sandy beaches and asphalt can burn little paws! Asphalt in 77 degree weather can get as hot as 125 degrees! To see if the ground is safe for those paws, place your palm down for at least 5 seconds. If it's too hot for you, it's too hot for them!
☀️Early symptoms of heatstroke include difficulty breathing, excessive panting and drooling, mild weakness, or stupor. If you see any of these, please contact us or your nearest emergency clinic for help!
🍫Even though our pets beg for all those yummy foods we're eating, make sure you know what isn't safe for them. When in doubt, don't give out! For the full list of unsafe foods, visit the ASPCA's website.
🪪Always keep your pets' ID tags and microchips up-to-date! 4th of July is coming up bringing us to the busiest day at our animal shelters. Having all of their identification readily available ensures a quicker and safer return home if lost.

We want to give a big thank you to Miss Prim (and Mom and Dad!) for truly brightening up our Monday with a cookie cake!🐶🎂
This sweet girl came in to complete her heartworm treatment and was all smiles and happy tail wags the whole time! Thank you to her mom and dad for trusting us to keep her happy and healthy. We love getting all the kisses and snuggles from sweet Prim🩵

🐶With this season change comes new plants, pesky bugs, and household cleaning products that can pose a huge threat to your pets. Wild mushrooms🍄, mosquitoes🦟, and bleach🧽 are just a few things that can pose a huge threat to your pets! If your pet comes into contact with a wild plant or cleaning product that you're unsure of its toxicity, don't hesitate to contact us at 337-988-3303 or the PetPoison Helpline at 888-426-4435.
🐱We understand accidents happen, and with the warmer weather calling for more outside playtime for our pets, it is so important to have proper identification🪪 on at all times and microchip information up-to-date!
