Today is Heat Awareness Day, and with summer just around the corner, it's a great time to brush up on how to keep your pets safe in the heat! 🌑️🐾

Here's what to watch for and what to do:

Never leave your pet in a parked car. Temperatures inside a car can become life-threatening in just minutes.

Check the pavement before walks. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws.

Know the signs of heatstroke: heavy panting, excessive drooling, lethargy, vomiting, or confusion. If you see these signs, cool your pet down and contact us immediately.

Always have fresh water available, especially outdoors.

Have questions or concerns? We're here! πŸ“ž (337) 984-3889

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and we want to take a moment to talk about something we see every day: the incredible impact pets have on our wellbeing. πŸ’š

Studies show that spending time with animals can lower cortisol levels, reduce feelings of loneliness, boost mood, and even lower blood pressure. But if you're a pet owner, you probably didn't need a study to tell you that. You already know what it feels like to come home to a wagging tail or a purring cat after a hard day.

Our pets give so much. We're grateful to help keep them healthy so they can keep showing up for you. 🐾

May is Lyme Disease Prevention Month, and even though Lyme disease is less common in our area, ticks are still very much a local concern! 🐾

If your pet has traveled with you to the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, or Upper Midwest, Lyme exposure is worth keeping on your radar since it is much more prevalent in those regions. Symptoms in dogs can include lameness, fever, and fatigue, and they don't always show up right away.

The good news is that prevention is simple! A monthly tick preventative and regular tick checks after time outdoors go a long way toward keeping your pet protected. Bonus: keeping up with tick prevention also helps protect your pet from Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne illness that hits closer to home.

Not sure if your pet is protected? Give us a call and we will help you find the best plan for your pet's lifestyle. πŸ“ž (337) 984-3889
