Delhomme Animal Clinic

Delhomme Animal Clinic Personalized veterinary care with a focus on client and patient comfort. Breaux Bridge's ONLY family-owned veterinary practice.

When Dr. Cole Delhomme began dreaming of opening an animal clinic in Breaux Bridge, she knew that strong ties to her community were as important as the bond between humans and their pets. It was with this sense of neighborly pride that the Delhomme Animal Clinic dream became a reality. Together with her husband Jeff, Dr. Cole began renovating the old Delhomme house, taking care to preserve and che

rish generations of family members along the way. As you walk through the clinic you will see many of the original details, from the terrazzo floors and brick walls to the ornate iron work. If you look closely you may even spot family pictures, the old front door and repurposed paneling. It’s this love and respect for the past that drives Dr. Cole to continue to make Sanders and Rena’s home a place full of joy, vitality and family. With every milestone we reach, we recognize the spiritual confirmations and thank God for all the opportunities he has given us to practice high quality, ethical medicine. Today, Dr. Cole and her staff are dedicated to providing excellent patient care and compassionate client education. We believe in reinvesting in our community, and support many local programs, including youth sports for Breaux Bridge High School, Teurlings Catholic High and the Ricky Cormier Football Foundation. Delhomme Animal Clinic also works with the St Martin Parish Animal Services and St Martin Humane Society, providing health care to pets looking for their forever homes. Please feel free to come by and visit our clinic. We are always ready to meet you and your furry family members.

While this heat has us humans walking outside and immediately saying no, our pets may not call it quits until it's too late. Heatstroke can happen so fast, especially for those very old, very young, chubby, or smooshy faced breeds. If you notice your dog panting hard, if your pet seems weak or droopy or lethargic after being outside, don't wait it out! This soup-thick humidity adds a layer of danger to our pets here in South Louisiana. Keep your walks in the early mornings, late evenings - and for the more social of them, head for a walk around your local hardware store.

Your pets have totally noticed the backpacks, morning alarms, and back to school scramble! For some of our pets it means enjoying the peace and quiet, but for others it can be a personal betrayal. If your pet seems stressed or extra clingy, it can be their way of saying they need a little extra support. Routine, enrichment, and patience can go a long way for those extra-stressy pets!

Even vet clinics have regulars! We know who needs cheese, who is tough until it comes to nail trims, who likes the doctor but not Aaron, and who has to be carried inside. That's all part of our favorite thing though! We aren't working with appointment slots, we are working with pets and people we have come to know and love. Tell us how long you have been bringing your pets to Delhomme Animal Clinic (if you remember)

Hey y’all! If you’re headed our way this week, don’t let the construction and road closures send you on a wild goose chase. The usual Carmel Dr. / Mills Ave route is going to be affected through August 31, so we drew y’all a little backroad map.

📍 COMING FROM BREAUX BRIDGE
Turn North on Berard, left on Hebert, right on Saltmine Hwy until you get to Delhomme Animal Clinic.

📍 COMING FROM LOUISIANA AVE / CARMEL DR
Turn north onto Teurlings Drive, right on Lajaunie Rd > Chess Broussard > Mim Callier, turn right onto Saltmine Hwy and follow the road until you get to Delhomme Animal Clinic

We've got our very official, highly sophisticated hand-drawn map to help 😂 so save this post or screenshot it before you head our way, and if you get turned around, call us! We'll do our best to keep you from circling Breaux Bridge with a confused dog in the backseat!

We hear it all the time; "He's just slowing down."
Sometimes that's true, but sometimes it's chronic dental pain. Pets are incredibly good at hiding discomfort. They'll continue eating, wagging, and carrying on while living with painful infections, loose teeth, or abscesses. One of our favorite things is seeing a senior pet after dental treatment, because they act like puppies and kittens again. What looked like aging was actually pain. If your senior pet seems different lately, let's take a look.

Good veterinary care doesn't just happen inside our building, it happens in the little things. Fresh water, quality food, monthly prevention, and brushing teeth. The small habits rarely feel important in the moment, but over years, they make a huge difference. What's one pet care habit you've gotten really consistent about lately?

One day your puppy will have gray around their muzzle, the years always move faster than we expect. Our job isn't just helping pets live longer, it's helping them stay comfortable enough to enjoy those years. Healthy mouths matter because comfort matters. Every treat. Every tail wag. Every forehead kiss. That's what we're protecting. Share a photo of your first best friend, the pet who taught you what unconditional love looked like.

A lot of people think bad breath is just part of owning a dog. It isn't. Sure, dogs aren't supposed to smell minty fresh, but if your pet's breath makes you pull your face away during kisses, there's usually a reason. Most often, that reason is dental disease. The smell may bother us, but what worries us more is what it means for them. Bad breath is one of the first signs that something unhealthy is happening inside the mouth. Has your pet's breath changed recently? Mention it at your next visit.
