We're a foster-based rescue helping dogs of all breeds through medical care, rehabilitation, foster homes, and adoption into loving forever homes. Lucky 13 Rescue is a federal 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the rescue and aid of homeless and neglected dogs in the Kansas City metro and surrounding rural areas. We do not limit our efforts to a specific breed, but rather strive to assist any dog t

hat is facing neglect, homelessness, abuse or death. Our ultimate goal is to rehabilitate each canine in our care through placement in loving foster homes until they can be carefully matched with adoptive families.

Every dog deserves a chance, and it all starts with a foster home.

Dogs like Steve, Annie, Lucky, Macy, Dexter, and Yodel are already safe because someone opened their home and said “yes” to fostering. Their foster families have given them a place to heal, grow, and wait for the loving families they deserve.

But there are still more dogs waiting for that same chance. Right now, Lucky 13 Rescue is limited in how many dogs we can save simply because we don’t have enough foster homes.

The good news is you don’t have to do it alone. Lucky 13 Rescue provides the food, supplies, medical care, and support. All you have to provide is a safe place and a little love.

One foster home can make the difference between a dog waiting for help and a dog getting a second chance. Will you be the reason another life is saved?

Named after one of the brightest constellations in the night sky, Lyra is a 4.5-month-old Catahoula mix with a mesmerizing blue eye, adorable freckles, and a sweet soul that's impossible not to love.

When you first meet Lyra, she may hang back and take it all in. New people and places can make this thoughtful girl a little shy. But give her a kind word, a gentle smile, and a little encouragement, and you'll be rewarded with a friend for life.
