Lucky 13 Rescue Lucky 13 Rescue Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit that takes in unwanted, stray, & lost pets in the KC area.

Lucky 13 Rescue is a federal 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the rescue and aid of homeless and neglected dogs in the Kansas City metro and surrounding rural areas. We do not limit our efforts to a specific breed, but rather strive to assist any dog that is facing neglect, homelessness, abuse or death. Our ultimate goal is to rehabilitate each canine in our care through placement in loving foster homes until they can be carefully matched with adoptive families.

🎆 Fireworks + Dogs = A Risk You Can Prevent 🐾

As fireworks season approaches, remember:
What sounds like celebration to us can be terrifying and dangerous for dogs and other pets.

🔊 Loud noises can cause pets to:
🆘Panic and escape
🆘Jump fences or chew through gates
🆘Get disoriented and become lost
🆘Suffer from severe anxiety or physical distress

Simple Steps to Keep Your Dog Safe:
✅ Keep them indoors with windows and curtains closed
✅ Turn on a TV, fan, or calming music to muffle noise
✅ Double-check fences and gates are secure
✅ Make sure collars, ID tags, and microchips are up to date
✅ NEVER take your dog to fireworks events
✅ Talk to your vet now about anxiety medication options if your dog is noise-sensitive

🐶 Lost dog reports spike every year after fireworks. Don’t wait, get prepared now.

🐾 FOSTER NEEDED — Meet Milo! 🐾

Milo is a sweet, smart 4-year-old Goldendoodle (~50-55 lbs) who needs a foster ASAP. He’s house, kennel, and leash trained, great with dogs, cats, and kids — but he’s energetic and needs room to play and someone to help continue his training.

He knows basic commands, loves fetch, and will be fully up to date on vaccines and heartworm prevention this week.

Due to a move and downsizing, his family can’t give him the active lifestyle he needs. Let’s help Milo find a loving foster while we search for his perfect forever home!

Meet Penny!

Penny is a 6-month-old pointer mix with a sweet heart and a playful spirit! She's high-energy and would thrive in an active home or with another dog who loves to play. She gets along great with other dogs and is respectful and friendly from the start.

Penny loves chew toys, playing in water, and getting all the pets! She knows "sit," walks nicely on leash, and isn't reactive. She sleeps in her crate at night, hasn't been destructive, and has been gentle around kids-but due to her bouncy puppy energy, a home without young children is best.

She's expected to grow to at least 50lbs and is 100% amazing, according to everyone who meets her-even the nail trimmer called her "the literal best!"

Penny will come with age-appropriate vaccines, spayed, microchipped and up to date on heartworm prevention. Her adoption fee is $250.

Sometimes pictures don’t do our foster pups justice and then there’s Benny!

You can feel his wiggly, outgoing nature in his pictures. He’s between 4 and 5 months old and is seriously the best little guy.

Benny is great with kids, dogs, and even cats, making him a perfect fit for a variety of families. Whether it's playtime in the yard or cuddle time on the couch, this pup is always up for love and adventure.
