Kansas City North Trapper-Independent If you are need of having a pet trapped please send a message. If you allow your pet to roam or are a breeder, I will not assist in trapping.

I am the only professional trapper in the Northland and work independently from Kansas City Dog Trappers. My name is Dawn, and I am an Independent Trapper in KC Northland. I have been volunteering in rescue for many years in several capacities such as fostering for local shelters and rescues, serving as a volunteer micro-chip scanner, transporting animals, professionally trapping animals to assist

local Animal Control Officers and pet owners to trap animals that are fearful, unapproachable and unable to be hand-captured. I am an avid animal advocate who will allows be the voice of an animal in need. My passion is trapping fearful animals as an effort to get them safely reunited with their owner. I also work closely with licensed rescues and local animal control services to trap stray animals that have rescue commitment. I spent many years learning how to manage a fearful personal dog, which gave me the knowledge and skillset to understand how to engage with animals in survival and flight mode. That knowledge led me to be a successful humane Trapper coupled with my passion to rescue fearful animals and get them to safety is my specialty. If you are a pet owner or a licensed rescue in need of an animal being trapped in the KC Northland, please reach out to me via messenger on this page. I will occasionally be available to assist rural locations, if there is rescue commitment and based on my availability. Unfortunately, I am unable to waste efforts trapping an owned pet that is freely allowed to roam. I am a volunteer who works a Full-time job thus will do my best to return your message during non-business hours.

We were contacted today about a dog that had been seen for several days roaming a neighborhood that would run when approached. The dog had never been seen by neighbors before but was caught on several security cameras overnight and seemed to be traveling a long creek.

Over lunch we set up a feeding station and cameras where the pup found food the night prior. Within a few short hours the dog appeared on camera and found the feeding station.

After work, we dropped a 72-inch trap at our feeding station in hopes that the dog would return before the storm. A short time later pup was seen approaching the trap, however, there was quite a bit of foot traffic (kiddos, bikes, scooters, people etc...) and pup became scared and ran the opposite direction. We found him again hiding a few blocks away and attempted to push him back towards the trap. We were at least 200 yards away and the second he saw us he bolted even farther. He crossed a busy road and once again hid near a tree line.

With the big storm coming, we made the choice to move the trap to his location vs waiting for him to return. We do not typically use this approach once they have found the food. We quickly relocated the trap from the original feeding station to his new hidey spot and dropped it about 400 yards from him. He watched us bait the trap and we quickly left the area after setting it live so that he would not feel threatened and investigate the trap.

His new hidey spot was more isolated, and once we left the area he mustered up the courage to approach the trap. He (or possibly a she) could not resist our yummy, smelly food and finally entered the trap and is now safe before the storm.

Pup is safe at KCPP. Unsure of s*x. Pup will be scanned for a chip once he/she decompresses a bit.

Our friend, Rayven with Kitty Cat Connection mentioned she had a Momma cat that was trap savvy that had evaded capture for the past two years. We have had very good luck trapping trap savvy cats in large dog traps, so of course we offered to assist.

We set up a 48-inch dog trap and on day 1 Momma cat appeared and entered the trap, but the trap malfunctioned. Day 2, we switched out the trap for another 48-inch trap and sure enough not only did Momma return to the yummy high-value tuna, sardines churro sticks and whatever else stinky bait we had it the trap, but she also chilled out and appeared to take a quick little nap, and entered and exited the trap multiple times but once again, the trap did not fire properly.

They say 3rd time is a charm, but reality is I was now irritated and determined. I switched the trap out again this morning to a newer 48-imch trap, double and triple tested it, said a hail O Mary, rolled my eyes, and may have cussed a bit as I left.

Tonight Momma cat showed up and this time, the trap fired properly and after two long years of being untrappable Momma trap is now safely trapped, will be spayed tomorrow and returned to her colony where her colony feeder loves her dearly.

A special thanks to Gladstone Animal Control Officer Smith for assisting with the transfer from the large dog trap to the kitty kennel and allowing the transfer to occur at the shelter in a safe and confined area. And, to Rayven for always advocating for the kitty cats and taking such good care of them.

If you are not familiar with Kitty Cat Connection, they do some amazing work with the felines. They have had 316 intakes in 2026, thus far. Every cat gets spayed, neutered, combo tested, rabies, microchipped (except TNRs) and their FVCRP vaccines. How amazing is that?!?!

Over the past two years, Mamma cat has had 9 litters!!! Yes, I said 9!! That all changes tomorrow thanks to Kitty Cat Connection.

Kitty Cat Connection depends on donations to fund the good work their are doing in the cat community. If you can find it in your heart to donate to their cause, please do so.
A big Thank you to our friends at kitty Cat Connection for all you do. You are so very appreciated.

This tiny little girl is safe tonight, after quite the adventure through the northland.

We first noticed this little one posted on the Next Door app last week. However, the person posting pictures refused to call KCMO Animal services or share the sighting locations with us, indicating "They didn't want her euthanized". Unfortunately, this put the pup at risk for being hit by a car (or worse) for an additional week until we had other sightings show up on the Lost and found pages.

This pup was seen by Worlds of Fun, Winnetonka High School, 48th street, Parvin Road, 210 & Searcy Creek, Antioch Road and on 35 highway! She put in some serious miles running from people.

This little girl is lucky to be alive tonight. We personally watched her almost get hit crossing busy Antioch Road multiple times and she was seen running on I-35 highway. We almost had her trapped Monday twice, however she got spooked due to interference and did not return to the same location. She migrated from 35 and Antioch all the way back to the Winnetonka HS area today, Over lunch, I quickly moved all our gear, created a few feeding new stations and right after I left she found one. I quickly returned and she was still at the feeding station. I dropped a trap about 75 feet away, tossed some hot dogs to distract her while I grabbed her bowl from the feeding station, tossed in the trap and drove away. While I was driving away to hide, she went right in the trap after the food bowl I had just stole from her. (haa haa!)

A special thank you to the property manager at Brookwood Townhomes, who worked feverishly to educate all the tenants to stop feeding and chasing her and was instrumental in keeping her safe when she was so close to the highway.

Another special thank you to "Katie" for allowing us to put up a feeding station and trap this pup in her yard today. I wasn't prepared for the Tik Tok video, but you sure made me smile.

**PSA** If you see a stray dog, please always report it to animal control. In the state of MO, dogs are required to serve a 5-day mandatory stray hold at the shelter, to allow their owner an opportunity to find them. They are NOT euthanized on intake in MO for being a stray. This is simply false information and this poor girl suffered through the horrible hail and 80mph wind and severe thunderstorm we had this week because the person posting about her refused to tell us the location.

Also, if a pup is unapproachable, do not follow it. Unapproachable means the dog moves away from you. This little girl was very difficult to trap because many people tried to catch her and even followed her in cars taking videos and posting them on social media. They told us "We were not chasing her". But in reality, the pup is scared which is why it is moving away from you. If you are in a car, which is even bigger than a human body and you are following the dog while it is running in flight mode, you are basically chasing and hunting the dog down which puts it at risk for being hit by a car or not returning to their safe place. The best thing to do is stop engaging with the dog and report the sighting to animal control and take a picture if you can and post it on the Lost and Found pages.

I am not posting this to shame anyone, but rather to educate the general public on "fear" in hopes that we can save more animals.

If you live near Gladstone bowling alley or the Gladstone Post Office, can you message our page if you have seen or see this dog?

Apparently, he has been seen at night dragging leash, however the person that posted the video and pictures will not respond to provide details on the location so that we can get him safely trapped.

6/4 update- Safely trapped

This scared little girl was first seen last week near Winnetonka, WOF, 48th street, 210 & Searcy Creek, Parvin road, Chaumerie Lake, and Antioch and 43rd street.

She moves FAST and FAR. She is NOT approachable, as she will simply run if confronted. I personally had eyes on her several times and watched her run into oncoming traffic multiple times.

We almost had her trapped last night, however there was too much interference, and she got scared and left the area. We are hearing she may have traveled all the way back to 48th street tonight.

***If you see her, IGNORE her and contact us immediately so we can get her safely trapped before she is hit by a car***

**Sightings Needed**

Last seen on 6/3 in the Smithville area.
Pup travels FAR and FAST!

Please DO NOT APPROACH him as he is not able to be hand-captured and will just run. He was first noticed as posted on social media last week in the Holt and Kearney area. He traveled from there to Nashua and today there were 3 sightings in Smithville.

***IF YOU SEE THIS PUP CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY, and DO NOT ENGAGE WITH PUP** Some people have gotten fairly close but he is too skittish to hand-capture, thus requires being trapped.

We need sightings to get him safely trapped.

One has been seen running that area, as well as near the dog park and the public garden by Gladstone Shelter. We have not seen any "lost" reports for this pup and we do not have any pictures. We would like to get this little safe.

Thank you!

This pup was seen running near Englewood Park, dragging leash today.
His leash got tangled around the wheel of a moving jeep. Luckily he was not hurt. Bystanders were able to get the leash untangled but he was scared and ran off and would not allow anyone to grab him.

Sometimes we are just in the right place, at the right moment. Pup is not microchipped and is now at KCPP. If you know who this pup belongs to please have them reach out to KCPP to claim.
