Looking to upgrade to cat-proof floors? Whether you have one cat or an entire clowder, these floors can stand up to zoomies and "accidental" spills alike! 🐈

#1: Luxury Vinyl Plank (LVP) from a reputable manufacturer like Flooret comes with a thick scratch-resistant wear layer, and it's waterproof!

#2: Tile is highly durable AND extremely water resistant. Unlike some other options, most tile can be steam cleaned and bleached, making it ideal for areas with litter boxes that need to be disinfected regularly.

#3: Laminate is low-maintenance, resistant to scratches, and very easy to clean. It's also affordable and available in plenty of colors!

#4: Hardwood. While not as scratch-resistant as some other options, we recommend lighter colors and low-shine finishes to conceal zoomies-related incidents. If you love the look of hardwood but not the maintenance, we recommend LVP!

Five components of carpet you should know about before you start shopping!

1. Fiber - Carpet fiber is the material the carpet's made from. Each type has different benefits, from look and feel to durability. Some fibers are moisture-resistant, like olefin. Others, like wool, excel at hiding stains!

2. Pile - There are two main types of carpet pile: cut and loop. Carpets also come in different lengths, ranging from low to high (remember s**g?). Low-pile carpets are short and easy to maintain, whereas high-pile carpets are more comfy but have greater demands for upkeep!

3. Density - Carpet density measures how closely the yarn's fibers are tufted to the carpet backing. Generally, a higher density is considered better, with denser carpets withstanding impact like foot traffic and furniture better!

4. Pad - A layer of carpet padding between the carpet and the subfloor has multiple benefits, including sound dampening, providing insulation, and making it feel soft and squishy under your feet 😍

5. Color - This one is largely up to personal preference, but we find it's also a moment for introspection. Are you *really* going to maintain your white carpets well enough for them to stay white?
