Hi, I'm Violet!
I'm back at the shelter because my last home wasn't quite the right fit for me. I absolutely LOVE my people, but being left home alone all day was really hard on me. I would do best with a family where someone is home more often, or with someone who is committed to helping me build confidence and learn that being alone isn't so scary. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, I know I can keep making progress.
I would also prefer to be the only pet in the home. I have shown some resource guarding around food and other high-value items with other dogs. Outside of those situations, I have done well with another dog while supervised, but I will need a home that understands my boundaries and is willing to continue working with me. My start in life wasn't the easiest I was originally found abandoned in a house with my two littermates after we had gone at least a week without food or water so some of the habits I've developed come from learning to survive.
The good news? I'm incredibly smart and love to learn! I already know sit, down, stay, and I've been working on "watch." Since I'm very food motivated, training is one of my favorite things to do. I'm looking for someone who will continue helping me grow into the confident, happy dog I know I can be.
If you're willing to invest a little time and patience, you'll gain a loyal best friend who loves her people with her whole heart.
