Our shelter is a very modern and attractive facility. Our building is not only user friendly for visitors and staff, but also caters to the needs and comforts of our 4 legged guests as well. Our successful adoption rates are close to the highest in the state, a fact we are very proud of and work hard to maintain. We are staffed by a Supervising Officer, two full time Animal Control Officers, two f

ull time Shelter Attendants, and our dedicated volunteers.

***Because more often then not we only have one person in our office at a time. We ask that you call ahead and schedule an appointment before coming to the shelter to either look at our shelter animals, or to meet an adoptable animal. This will ensure that we have set aside an adequate amount of time to make sure the pet you are enquiring about will be a good fit, for not only you, but you for them as well. We also encourage and suggest that if you have other dogs in your household, that we do a meet and greet prior to adoption. This will help ensure the well-being, safety, and correct fit for all animals and family members involved. Most Fridays and Saturdays you can meet some of our cats and kittens at the Petco in Washington City at our weekly adoption event. If you have an animal related emergency, please call our dispatch center (not the shelter) and they will dispatch out an officer for you. 435-627-4999.

I've been Adopted!

✨ Meet Miss Sage – 103lbs of Pure Love & Wiggles! ✨

Words can’t explain how AWESOME Miss Sage is, but we’ll give it a shot. This girl is 103 pounds of love, chaos, and endless wiggles. 🐾 She’s convinced she’s a lap dog, and honestly… who’s going to tell her otherwise?

Miss Sage loves everyone she meets and plays well with other sturdy dogs. She’s friendly with little dogs too, but fair warning—her excitement level is BIG, and she might just tumble right over them in all her joy.

We think she’s about a year old, which means she still has some growing up to do (both in size and manners). She’ll be spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped on October 16th, but she’s ready to start meeting her forever family now.

Her journey hasn’t been easy—Miss Sage was found out in the desert, digging under a sagebrush for shelter. Now, she’s looking for a family who will keep her safe, loved, and spoiled like the queen she is. 👑💜

Niblet (tabby w/white male) and Cowcat (black & white female) are ready to find their forever family! These two sweethearts are about 14 weeks old. They may be a little shy at first, but once the toys come out, their playful personalities shine bright. 🐱💖

🌸🐾 Meet Peach Cobbler! 🐾🌸

This sweet girl was brought to us as a stray during Peach Days here in Hurricane—so of course, she got the perfect name to match! 🍑 We don’t know much about her past, but we’re learning more about her every day.

✨ About Peach Cobbler:

~6 months old

Believed to be a purebred German Shepherd

Potty trained & knows her “sit” command!

Still working on her leash skills 🚶‍♀️

Does great with other dogs in the yard, though she can be a little barrier reactive

Scheduled to be spayed, microchipped & vaccinated on October 16th

Hurricane Animal Shelter serves the community of Hurricane City. Our successful adoption rates are close to the highest in the state, a fact we are very proud of and work hard to maintain. We are staffed by 2 full time animal control officers, and 1 full time shelter attendant and a number of wonderful, dedicated volunteers. If you would like to come by to look around, or meet a possible new family member, please call ahead to ensure the officer is not out on call. Also, most Fridays and Saturdays you can meet some of our cats and kittens at Petco in Washington City at our weekly adoptions.
