Hurricane Animal Shelter serves the great community of Hurricane City, Utah. Our building is not only user friendly for visitors and staff, but also caters to the needs and comforts of our 4 legged guests as well. Our successful adoption rates are close to the highest in the state, a fact we are very proud of and work hard to maintain. We are staffed by a Supervising Officer, two full time Animal

Control Officers, two full time Shelter Attendants, and our dedicated volunteers.

***Because more often then not we only have one person in our office at a time. We ask that you call ahead and schedule an appointment before coming to the shelter to either look at our shelter animals, or to meet an adoptable animal. This will ensure that we have set aside an adequate amount of time to make sure the pet you are enquiring about will be a good fit, for not only you, but you for them as well. We also encourage and suggest that if you have other dogs in your household, that we do a meet and greet prior to adoption. This will help ensure the well-being, safety, and correct fit for all animals and family members involved. Most Fridays and Saturdays you can meet some of our cats and kittens at the Petco in Washington City at our weekly adoption event. If you have an animal related emergency, please call our dispatch center (not the shelter) and they will dispatch out an officer for you. 435-627-4999. Thank you!!

UPDATE: i have been adopted!!
🍫🐾 Meet Kari! 🐾🍫

Sweet Kari is back with us and searching for her forever family💔Kari spent a little time at the shelter with us at the beginning of April and was adopted by a wonderful family who absolutely adored her. Unfortunately, due to very severe allergies within the household, they made the heartbreaking decision to return her. This was not a reflection of Kari at all, they had nothing but amazing things to say about her. Kari is approximately 3 years old, spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and ready to find her next adventure.
🐾 Does great with other dogs
🐾 Loves children
🐾 Is incredibly sweet and affectionate
🐾 Is interested in cats and wants to play, but because of her size she may be a little too rough for some feline friends

If you think Kari may be the perfect fit for your family, please call the Hurricane Animal Shelter to schedule a time to come meet her.

☀️ Summer Safety Reminder for Families & Pets ☀️

As temperatures rise and water levels fluctuate, we want to remind everyone to stay informed and stay safe when visiting local waterways.

Utah's recreational water quality updates, including areas affected by harmful cyanobacteria (blue-green algae), can be found here:

Utah DEQ Recreational Water Quality

https://deq.utah.gov/dwq/recreational-water-quality

This site includes helpful information about:

What cyanobacteria is.

Which waterways are currently affected.

How exposure can impact dogs, livestock, and people.

Safety recommendations for recreation and pet owners.

Important:

If you see suspicious algae, keep pets out of the water.

If you notice bright green, blue-green, or paint-like scum on the surface of the water, keep pets and livestock out of the water and avoid contact until you can verify conditions.

Stay safe out there, keep an eye on current advisories, and enjoy your summer! 🌊🐾🌞

RECLAIMED BY OWNER...

Meet Oreo!

🍪 3-4 years old
🍪 doodle mix?
🍪 loves water 🌊
🍪 easy to groom
🍪 neutered
🍪vaccinated

Oreo came to us from being an outdoor dog, so his potty training skills are a little rough, but with a good routine and positive reinforcement he’s learning! He loves to play with toys, enjoys splashing around in the water, and being included!

He can be a little shy at first, but he really enjoys being around people and getting to be included! Even with his people skills being top notch, he wasn’t socialized with other dogs- or had a bad interaction with one- so he would prefer to be the only 4 legged creature in the house. While he might be okay with the right match or after some time with a trainer, as of now it’s best this request is honored.

Please call us at 435-635-8314 to set up an appointment to meet Oreo!
