Winchester Road Animal Hospital

Winchester Road Animal Hospital “To offer veterinary care in an enjoyable, compassionate, progressive, and informed environment This is our mission statement.

It is something we strive to achieve in the care of our patients, clients and ourselves. What it means is simply this: We want you and your pet to always feel welcome and to feel that you are always getting the best care that is available. And since your pet is part of your family, we want you to feel that you are a partner in your pets health care and that your input is welcomed. In addition to

providing traditional veterinary care, such as preventive care, dental care, senior care and surgical procedures, we enjoy offering more progressive medicine including surgical laser procedures. We have also added therapeutic laser with other traditional methods for pain control and a variety of inflammatory conditions. Also, it is important for us to help your pet be an enjoyable, pleasant, and behaved member of your family. We hope you will come see us and that you and your pet will be pleased with your experience! In the meantime feel free to share any comments, stories and pictures of your fur babies.

Getting older is a privilege, but slowing down shouldn't always be dismissed as 'just old age'. Subtle changes in our senior pets can be signs of discomfort or underlying disease. Early detection helps keep them happy, comfortable, and enjoying life longer. 💛🐾

🐾 Heartworm Reminder 🐾

Did you know yearly heartworm testing is an important part of keeping your pets safe and healthy? Even pets that stay mostly indoors are still at risk for mosquito bites and heartworm disease.

For your pet’s safety, annual heartworm testing is required in order to continue purchasing heartworm prevention. This helps ensure prevention products are working properly and that your pet remains heartworm negative before continuing medication.

Heartworm disease can be dangerous — but with yearly testing and consistent prevention, it is also highly preventable! 💙

If your pet is due for their annual test, give us a call to get scheduled. We’re happy to help keep your furry family members protected year-round! 🐶🐱

MYTH: My dog is on heartworm preventative, so he doesn't need to be tested.

Thanks to better care, pets are living longer now than they ever have before—and as pets get older, they need extra care and attention. Regular veterinary examinations can detect problems in older pets before they become advanced or life-threatening. They also can improve your pet's chances for a longer and healthier life.

During today's theme of "Plan for their care: Give them a lifetime of love," learn more about basic considerations when caring for senior pets. https://bit.ly/4cvcsDh

With warmer weather approaching, please keep in mind that asphalt may reach very high temperatures and can be dangerous to your pets! Concrete & asphalt in direct sunlight can be dangerous for your pets' paws. We recommend walking early or later in the evenings when the pavement is cooler, or use grass or shaded paths. 🥵🐾
