A message from Dr.Rebecca🐾

Many of you have trusted Companion Crossing to help guide your families through one of the hardest days of loving a pet. Because of that, I wanted to share an opportunity for you to have your voices heard.

The AVMA is currently accepting public comments regarding the proposed creation of a veterinary specialty in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. This would help recognize and advance the field of end-of-life care for pets — including comfort-focused care, quality-of-life support, hospice, and compassionate euthanasia services.

If my practice has helped your family, I would be incredibly grateful if you would consider submitting a brief comment sharing why you believe this type of care matters.

Comments from you are especially important.

Thank you for supporting compassionate end-of-life care for pets and the families who love them. ❤️

🐾 FUR-get Me-Nots: A Small Keepsake, A Lifetime of Love

Every pet leaves their mark on our hearts. Our FUR-get Me-Not keepsake is a simple way to honor that bond.

During our visit, we can create a digital ink paw or nose print that captures the unique details that make them them. It’s a gentle reminder of the love, loyalty, and life you shared together.

Families receive this keepsake as part of our care, and optional framed versions are also available for those who would like a tangible way to display their pet’s lasting imprint. 💜

📣 Big news in osteosarcoma research!

Dr. Dan Regan and the CSU Animal Cancer Center are teaming up with the University of Colorado Cancer Center to tackle bone cancer from spreading to the lungs.

By studying lung fibroblasts, the cells that help osteosarcoma grow, they are exploring ways to stop them and hope their work could one day even reverse lung metastasis.

If you want to dig into the science behind it, read more: https://news.cuanschutz.edu/cancer-center/new-method-stopping-osteosarcoma-from-spreading-to-the-lungs

Taking some time today for continuing education🩶
As a Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian (CPEV), I have specialized training focused on comfort, calm, and the emotional experience of saying goodbye. Ongoing continuing education to maintain this certification helps me continually refine how I can best support pets and the people who love them.🩶🐾

Today we're especially grateful for the love shared between families and their pets- the quiet moments, the soft paws, the familiar routines, and the deep bonds that make a house feel like home.
To every family we've walked alongside this year, thank you for trusting us with such tender moments. It is an honor we never take lighily.
Wishing you peace and comfort 🐾🍁🧡

This is just a little reminder from one of our California colleagues. We are here to meet you where you are - tears, runny noses, laughter, slobbery dog kisses, favorite snacks, pet fur on the furniture and most importantly, love with no judgment💕🐾
