Weekend Hours Update for Mega Adoption! 📣

We're gearing up for one of the biggest adoption weekends of the year! Here's what you need to know about our hours and operations at BARC for August 8–10:

Friday, August 8
➡️ BARC will be CLOSED for adoptions while we transport pets to the Mega Adoption Event. Thanks for your patience as we get our furry friends ready to find homes!

Saturday & Sunday, August 9–10
🐾 Mega Adoption Event at NRG Arena: 10am–5pm
🐶 BARC Adoption Center (3300 Carr St): OPEN 12pm–5pm
💜 Adoption fees at BARC will match Mega prices—just $35 for dogs and puppies! So if you don’t find your perfect match at NRG, swing by BARC. We’ve got more pets waiting to meet you!

Sunday Stray Intake will be CLOSED! We're focusing all our energy this weekend on helping pets find loving homes. We appreciate your understanding!

✅ Wellness appointments will continue as scheduled (These are by appointment only so if you already have one, it’s still on!)

Let’s make this weekend count for Houston’s pets! Adopt at Mega or visit us at BARC—either way, you’ll be making a difference for shelter pets. 💜

The countdown to Mega continues! We’re just 3 days away from one of the biggest adoption events in Texas brought to you by Petco Love, Hill’s Pet Nutrition, and Best Friends Animal Society! 🐾💜

And guess what? These adorable pups from BARC Foster care will be there waiting to meet you:

🐶 Gloria (A2021499) – Smart girl who’s doing great with crate and potty training. Total family dog vibes.

🐶 Cooper (A2021714) – 7 months old and full of happy puppy energy!

🐶 Luna (A2018120) – Friendly, waggy, and treat-motivated! Thriving in foster care and great with other dogs.

🐶 Brynn (A2020699) – Small Lab/Beagle-ish mix, about 7 months old, loves dogs, adores people, and is learning that cats run the show.

🐶 Tarte (A2019786) – Sweet, wiggly girl who’s patiently waiting for her turn to shine. Easy to leash and loves attention.

🐾 𝗠𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝗡𝗮𝗹𝗮 𝗔𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟭𝟭𝟬𝟵! 🐾

This lovely lady has blossomed into the ultimate cuddle bug! 💛 Nala adores sunbathing, soft blankets, and snack time (treats are life!). She's wonderful with kids, gentle with other pets, and even gets along with cats—she’s the total package!

She’s quiet, non-reactive, and just wants a cozy corner and a kind human to call her own. If you’ve got a soft spot for shy souls with big hearts, Nala might be your perfect match. To meet me email [email protected] 🐶💕

Tiny Tina may be heartworm positive, but with treatment, she has every chance at a long, healthy life, just like any other dog. 💜

Tiny Tina is 4 years old, already spayed, totally adorable and ready for adoption. She recently tested low heartworm positive, but here’s the good news:

👉 Her treatment is sponsored through BARC when an adopter purchases 6 months of prevention (just $25–$45).
👉 Our medical team will explain everything you need to know before you take her home.
👉 Heartworm isn’t contagious, and it’s completely preventable for other pets with routine care.

Her adoption fee is just $5, and she's waiting patiently for someone to give her the fresh start she deserves. Come meet her at BARC! We're open 12–5pm!

Thank you to Home Depot Store #0571 for the generous donation of brand-new dog beds for our shelter and foster pets! 💜

Office pup and proud BARC Buddy Daisy gave them her official stamp of approval—and by that, we mean she tested them out. These comfy beds will help bring a little extra comfort to the animals in our care while they wait for loving homes.

We’re so grateful for community partners who support Houston’s pets! 🐶
