Spotlight Saturday: Meet Ellie. 🩷

Ellie (formerly Molly) originally came to the Houston SPCA as an injured stray animal with a severe injury to her tail. She was adopted by her new family in 2010, and we're happy to have received an update that she is still going strong at 19 years young! She loves to run around at the dog park, and we're so grateful to Ellie's family for giving her a place to call home.

Friendly Reminder! The Adoption Center will close to the public at 3 p.m. today as we prepare for our annual Ball on the Campus for All Animals.

If you have an emergency involving ill, orphaned, or injured wildlife, know that our Wildlife Center will remain open until 6 p.m.

All other services, including animal cruelty investigations, the rescue animal ambulance, and the Rehoming Center, will keep their regular hours.

Meet Nacho! 💛

This boy is the friendliest goat you'll ever meet. According to our Equine and Farm Animal Team, he's practically a dog in goat form and has become a favorite amongst the staff and volunteers. He walks beautifully on a leash and will follow you around everywhere you go. Nacho is very friendly with other sheep and goats, but would also be perfectly content by himself if his new family gave him lots of attention and love.

This mud turtle is officially back where he belongs after making his way through rehabilitation. His destination? The muddy, shallow waters and wetland habitats that mud turtles call home. 🌿💧
Mud turtles are excellent swimmers and spend much of their time in or around water. Their strong, webbed feet help them navigate muddy bottoms, while their ability to burrow into soft soil gives them a place to hide and rest.
After a little help from us, this turtle was ready to get back to doing what turtles do best: taking life at his own pace. 🐢💚

Introducing our Cat of the Week and longest-staying cat, MacKenzie. 🐈‍⬛

MacKenzie is a 5-month-old Domestic Short Hair, and she's been at the Houston SPCA since May when she was brought in as a kitten. MacKenzie might be a little timid, but she's looking for a friend to help her come out of her shell and help her explore this big world.
