6/12/2026: Standing at the front of his kennel with a wiggly body. Easy to leash despite wearing a cone. Walked on a loose leash to the run and back. Knows how to open the kennel divider from inside.

6/11/2026: Quiet in kennel with a relaxed body. Walks on a loose leash and keeps his kennel clean overnight.

6/10/2026: Quiet in kennel, relaxed body, wagging tail, easy to leash and walks calmly beside handler.

6/9/2026: During morning feeding, repeatedly opened his kennel guillotine door from the inside whenever staff walked away.

6/8/2026: Greeted volunteer with a relaxed body and wagging tail. Walked nicely on a loose leash to and from the runs. Enjoys enrichment and treats.

6/3/2026: Quiet in kennel, waits at the front of the kennel with a relaxed body and wagging tail. Walks on a loose leash and leans into pets.

6/1/2026: Went to HSN for neuter surgery. Waited calmly outside his kennel with a neutral body and open-mouth smile. Leashed easily and walked well to the trailer.

5/31/2026: Panting and walking forward on leash. Not interested in treats. Continually opened the kennel door.

5/28/2026: Easy to leash and walk. Relaxed in the runs and resting quietly in his kennel throughout the day.

5/27/2026: Greeted staff at the front of the kennel with a loose body, wagging tail, and soft face. Walked out to the runs on a loose leash.

5/26/2026: Described as very sweet and friendly.

5/24/2026: Very relaxed during intake.

5/24/2026: Intake exam normal. Vaccinated (Rabies, DA2PP, Bordetella), dewormed, flea prevention applied. Heartworm test negative.

6/1/2026: Neutered. E-collar and post-operative medications provided.

6/7/2026: Recheck exam normal. Weight 57.6 lbs.

3/22/2025 – Euthanasia Request: Entered BARC as an owner-requested euthanasia. Adopted from BARC on 3/25/2025.

5/23/2026 – Stray: Returned to BARC as a stray.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/8/2026: Romeo waited by the kennel door ready to go outside with a wiggly body, open-mouth smile, and easy leash handling. Responded well to baby talk and walked nicely despite occasionally stopping to look around.

6/6/2026: Vocal during cleaning and exchanged barks with a neighboring dog. Redirected easily with treats and later rested quietly on his cot. Accepted petting with squinty eyes and a low wagging tail.

6/5/2026: Very timid when approached, lowering his body and flinching with fast movements. Walked on a loose leash to potty but remained nervous around people.

6/3/2026: Responded very well to baby talk. Walked loosely to the runs and enjoyed playing with a neighboring dog through the fence. Returned when called and allowed easy leashing back to kennel.

6/2/2026: Greeted staff at the kennel door and was easily leashed. Displayed playful behavior in the runs, offering play bows and running back and forth with neighboring dogs. Returned calmly to kennel.

6/1/2026: Greeted staff with floppy ears and a low wagging tail. Easy to leash and remained relaxed both outside and in his kennel.

5/31/2026: Romeo stood in front of the kennel with a tense body and low wagging tail. Avoided the leash initially and needed coaxing. Once leashed he walked to the runs but became anxious, whining and pulling away. Later allowed petting and returned calmly to kennel.

5/30/2026: Avoided leashing until cornered and then laid down. Walked semi-loosely and flinched when petted, though he later displayed a low swaying tail.

5/29/2026: Displayed timid body language with a tucked wagging tail and crouched posture. Continued flinching when staff attempted to leash or unleash him.

5/28/2026: Presented with a timid body, tucked tail, and worried expression. Avoided the leash initially but walked on a loose leash once secured. Continued to back away when staff attempted to leash him.

5/27/2026: Selected for move-adopt. Was focused on playing with a neighboring dog and initially ignored staff. Responded to baby talk, came when called, and walked calmly to his new kennel.

5/26/2026: Walked on a loose leash to the runs. Became submissive when being retrieved, lying on his back during leashing. Once leashed he followed staff and returned calmly to kennel.

5/25/2026: Stood at the kennel front with a relaxed body and swaying tail. Initially avoided the leash and would not approach when called. Once leashed he walked well, though he pulled in the runs and stood on his hind legs. Eventually settled and walked calmly back to kennel.

🚑 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/7/2026: Exam noted facial wound/scarring.

5/23/2026: Scabs/scarring and two areas of hair loss noted on the bridge of the nose. Facial wounds appeared dry with no treatment required at that time.

5/23/2026: Weighed 74.8 lbs. Heartworm test: Negative. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention.

3/25/2025: Neutered at BARC following previous intake.

This handsome 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix has been waiting since May 20th for someone to notice what an incredible dog he is.

The moment we stepped into the run, Draco spotted a red ball, picked it up, and happily invited me to play. He brought it right back, ready for another throw, his tail wagging the whole time. It was impossible not to smile watching him enjoy such a simple moment.
Draco is confident, friendly, and easygoing. He walked calmly past other dogs without any issues and handled everything around him with the kind of confidence that makes him such an easy companion. He's the type of dog who would fit into so many homes.
Some dogs stand out because they're flashy. Draco stands out because he's simply a GOOD DOG.

5/20/2026 – Euthanasia Request

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/11/2026: Draco was very gentle on leash. In his kennel he remained calm and quiet, greeting staff at the front with a loose body, swaying tail, and soft closed mouth.

6/7/2026: Excited to go outside. Walked forward with a wagging tail and open-mouth smile. Remained quiet throughout the day and kept his kennel clean overnight.

6/5/2026: Moved to a different kennel area. Displayed a very wiggly body and walked in zig-zags while on leash.

5/27/2026: Left for HSN surgery in the morning.

5/25/2026: Greeted staff with a loose body and wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked on a loose leash to and from the runs.

5/23/2026: Approached with a loose, wiggly body and wagging tail. Easy to leash and walked on a loose leash to and from the runs.

5/21/2026: Stood at the front of his kennel with a wiggly body, wagging tail, and open-mouth panting. Walked on a loose leash with a fast wagging tail and had no issues going to and from the runs.

🚑 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/5/2026: Sneezing, sniffing, and coughing noted. Diagnosed with upper respiratory infection and prescribed Doxycycline 200mg twice daily for 10 days.

6/4/2026: Weighed 47.0 lbs. Dermatitis noted.

5/27/2026: Weighed 47.0 lbs. Dermatitis noted. Neutered.

5/21/2026: Areas of alopecia, hair thinning, and erythema noted on the rear end and tail. Diagnosed with suspected flea allergy dermatitis. Flea prevention applied.

5/20/2026: Weighed 46.8 lbs. Hair loss noted under tail. Heartworm test: Negative. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention.

6/11/2026: When approached, Marlo displayed whale eyes, a worried expression, and a low tail. He responded well to treats and baby talk, wagging his tail and maintaining a loose body posture. Walked calmly around the grass area on leash. Covered kennel.

6/10/2026: Marlo panted in his kennel overnight. He would jump on the kennel door as staff passed and tends to pull toward other dogs while on leash to sniff them.

6/5/2026: Vocal in the morning. Easily leashed and walked on a semi-tight leash. Was vocal in the runs toward nearby dogs but would quickly settle and sniff around. No issues returning him to his kennel.

6/4/2026: Relaxed body, wagging tail, easy to leash, and walked on a loose leash. Quiet in kennel.

6/3/2026: Quiet in kennel, sitting at the front of the door with a wagging tail, relaxed body, and soft smiling mouth. Walked on a loose leash.

6/2/2026: Greeted staff with an open-mouth smile and fast wagging tail. Pulled forward on a semi-loose leash going to the runs but walked back on a loose leash. Very vocal and heavily panting in the runs. Once inside, calmly enjoyed his enrichment toy on his bed.

6/1/2026: Quiet in kennel with a relaxed body and wagging tail. Walked on a loose leash.

5/31/2026: Lying down in kennel when approached. Walked on a semi-forward leash and did not take treats. Displayed an open mouth and was forward toward other dogs passing by.

5/29/2026: Quiet throughout the day. Walked well on leash with a relaxed body, open-mouth smile, and wagging tail. Later became forward barking when other dogs passed.

5/28/2026: Quiet in kennel. Relaxed body and swaying tail. Easy to leash and walked on a loose leash.

5/27/2026: Neutral body, swaying tail, and quiet in kennel.

5/26/2026: Greeted staff with a neutral body. Walked on a semi-loose leash. When returning to kennel he became concerned by a hanging clip and pinched his lip. Accepted treats and was able to be unleashed without issue.

5/25/2026: Greeted staff with a neutral body, whale eyes, neutral ears, and low tail. Walked out willingly on a semi-loose leash and kept a neutral body throughout.

5/24/2026: Selected for move-adopt. Waiting calmly in the run with a relaxed body and soft wagging tail. Walked on a loose leash to the adoptions building and settled into his new kennel without issue. Later returned from a walk with blood on his head; when examined he displayed whale eyes and was difficult to fully assess.

5/23/2026: Neutral body at kennel front. Easily leashed and walked on a loose leash to and from the runs.

5/21/2026: Greeted staff with a neutral body, wagging tail, and relaxed face. Walked on a loose leash with a loose body and swaying tail.

6/5/2026: Upper respiratory infection symptoms noted, including congestion, sneezing, and head shaking. Diagnosed with CIRD and prescribed Doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 10 days.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/11/2026: Opal lay quietly on her bed with a neutral body, soft closed mouth, and neutral ears. She was gentle on leash and accepted treats when offered.

6/1/2026: Same behavior noted as 5/31. Opal alarm barked until she saw staff, then calmed with a wagging tail. Walked semi-loosely to and from the potty yard and waited by the kennel door for interaction.

5/31/2026: Opal greeted staff in the morning by alarm barking until she saw them, then calmed with a wagging tail. She allowed easy leashing and walked semi-loosely to and from the potty yard. Waited by the kennel door for interaction.

5/30/2026: Whined during morning feeding and cleaning but quieted after spending time outside. Remained calm and quiet for the rest of the day.

5/29/2026: Calm and quiet during feeding and cleaning. Walked on a loose leash throughout the shelter and entered and exited kennels without issue.

5/28/2026: Calm and quiet during feeding and cleaning. Became slightly vocal while watching staff untangle a leash but settled quickly. Easily leashed and walked on a loose leash. Occasionally alarm barked but quieted after a few seconds.

5/27/2026: Displayed a wiggly body, high fast wagging tail, and soft open mouth. Walked on a loose leash and left for HSN surgery.

5/26/2026: Greeted staff by jumping on the kennel door with a wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked in zig-zags to and from the potty yard. Vocalized with a high-pitched whine whenever she heard someone nearby.

5/25/2026: Greeted staff at the kennel front with an open mouth and fast wagging tail. Easily leashed and walked on a loose leash to the runs.

5/21/2026: Greeted staff with an open mouth, fast wagging tail, and soft eyes. Easily leashed and walked on a loose leash to the runs. Mostly kept to herself outside and returned easily to her kennel.

5/27/2026: HSN procedure completed. Apparently already spayed; spay scar present.

5/18/2026: Weighed 39.0 lbs. Mild flea allergy dermatitis noted. Heartworm test: Negative. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/11/2026: Iris greeted staff at the front of the kennel with a neutral body posture, wagging tail, and neutral ears. She walked on a loose leash outside, ran along the fence, and spun in circles. She appeared very happy. Removed from Adopt Eval due to previous improvement.

6/11/2026: Calm and relaxed in her kennel during the morning. Easy to leash and walked on a loose leash to and from the runs. Displayed a neutral body, mid-wagging tail, and soft open mouth.

6/10/2026: Presented with a semi-tense body but wagged her tail and displayed a soft facial expression and wiggly body. She flinched when approached, raising her front paw and tucking her tail.

6/9/2026: Easily leashed and walked semi-loosely with a neutral body. Per volunteer, she loved playing fetch outside and enjoyed carrying the ball.

6/8/2026: Greeted staff with a neutral body and walked loosely on leash. While eating treats she slightly stiffened when being pet but remained quiet throughout the day.

6/7/2026: Wagged her tail while walking to and from the runs. Walked calmly on a loose leash and remained quiet throughout cleaning.

6/6/2026: Spent most of the day lying in her bed. Displayed a neutral body, worried facial expression, and wagging tail.

6/5/2026: While staff attempted to dry her after she rolled in mud, she began low growling. When treats were offered and the towel was reintroduced, she stepped back with a tense body, tucked tail, and continued low growling. Placed on Adopt Eval for monitoring.

5/27/2026: Calm and relaxed in her kennel during feeding and cleaning. Displayed a neutral body, mid-wagging tail, and soft open mouth. Walked on a loose leash heading in and out of the south building.

5/20/2026: Walked on a loose leash and showed no interest in treats.

5/19/2026: Presented with a neutral body, neutral tail, and soft closed mouth. Walked on a loose leash while maintaining the same relaxed body language.

6/12/2026: Continued upper respiratory infection symptoms. Diagnosed with CIRD. Prescribed Doxycycline 150mg SID for 5 additional days.

6/2/2026: Coughing, gagging, and nasal discharge noted. Diagnosed with CIRD and moved to treatment. Prescribed Doxycycline 150mg SID for 10 days.

5/31/2026: Weighed 34.0 lbs. Normal exam.

5/18/2026: Weighed 34.0 lbs. Normal exam. Heartworm test: Negative. Vaccinated (Rabies, Bordetella, DA2PP-V), dewormed, and given flea prevention.

5/17/2026: Tranquilized during intake after a missed dart attempt. Weighed 45.0 lbs. Normal exam.

6/5/2026: Did well during intake workup and stood still for vaccines and blood draw. Had a low wagging tail and was described as very sweet.

5/29/2026 – Stray: White and black female pit bull-type dog found abandoned at Waldemar Park.

5/29/2026 – Intake Note: During intake Sugar was alligator rolling during handling, making it difficult to administer dewormer. Dewormer was given in food.

📝 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/8/2026: Sugar was very wiggly upon approach. Easy to leash and walked happily to the runs. Displayed a high wagging tail and soft open mouth. Was seen moving door to door saying hello to other dogs. Removed from Adopt Eval.

6/7/2026: Greeted staff at the kennel door relaxed with a soft open mouth. Easy to leash and walked loosely to the runs.

6/6/2026: Passing the kennel, Sugar greeted staff with front paws on the door, softly whining and wagging her tail. Inside the kennel she circled with an open mouth and wiggly body. When pet, she displayed squinty eyes and rested her front paws on staff while enjoying affection.

6/4/2026: Quiet in her kennel but waited at the front during cleaning. Walked on a loose leash to the runs with a wiggly body and soft facial expression.

6/3/2026: Moved into a move-adopt placement. Greeted staff loosely at the kennel door with a high wagging tail. Easy to leash and walked loosely to her new kennel. Continued to greet staff with a wiggly body and wagging tail throughout the day.

6/2/2026: Wiggly in kennel and easy to leash. Walked out well and quickly went potty in the runs. Enjoyed greeting neighbors and sniffing around.

6/1/2026: Stood at the front of her kennel with a neutral body and dilated eyes. Responded positively to baby talk with a wiggly body and wagging tail. Walked on a semi-tight leash to the runs, quietly did her business, and returned to her kennel when called.

5/31/2026: Presented with a tense body, whale eyes, ears back, and avoidance of the leash initially. Once leashed she walked on a loose leash to the runs and returned calmly.

5/30/2026: Presented with a neutral body and was easily leashed. Walked to the runs on a loose leash.

🚑 𝗠𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘀:

6/4/2026: Loose stool with blood noted. F***l test negative. Prescribed Panacur for 5 days with instructions to repeat in one week per veterinarian.

5/29/2026: Areas of alopecia/hair thinning noted. Differential diagnoses included flea allergy, atopy, or food allergy. Flea prevention applied at intake.

5/29/2026: Weighed 50.0 lbs. Diagnosed with dermatitis. Heartworm test: Negative. Vaccinated (DA2PP-V, Bordetella, Rabies), dewormed, and given flea prevention. Intact female.
