Nana’s story is one that truly tugs at the heart. 💔

She was found in an abandoned bar, surrounded by silence… but not alone. Another dog was with her. One of our amazing foster families spotted her while driving to work, and at first glance, they feared she may have passed away. But something made them stop to check, and that one moment changed everything.

When they approached, Nana slowly lifted her head and gave them a smile. She was barely able to walk, but still wanted love. As they gently fed her some wet food, they heard barking coming from above. Another dog, DW, was trapped on the roof. That day, they rescued both.

DW has since been adopted. Nana is still waiting.

Now about 9 years old, Nana is gentle, affectionate, and full of quiet strength. Her foster family believes she was kept in a cage for breeding before finally being spayed and abandoned. Despite everything she has been through, she holds no grudges, just love.

She’s fantastic with dogs of all ages and great with children. She adores snuggles, car rides, and recently discovered a new passion: the beach! With treatment for arthritis, she’s been zooming around with puppy-like energy, showing off her spunky side.

Yes, she’s a senior, but she has a whole lot of love left to give. Nana is ready to give someone her full heart and finally receive the lifelong care she deserves.

Let’s not let her be the one who gets left behind.

When you order takeout or delivery from Star Pizza, you might spot a familiar face on the box. We teamed up with them to help find homes for the dogs and cats who've been waiting the longest for their forever family.

Our team stopped by for a lunch break to see it in action. The pizza was, as always, incredible, and so is their support for Houston’s homeless pets.

Our Animal Clinic is open every Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. for walk-in vaccine appointments.

If your schedule makes it hard to come in during the week or on Saturdays, Sunday is the perfect time to get your dog or cat up to date on vaccines. Staying current on vaccinations is an important part of your pet’s overall health, and a key step in emergency preparedness.

Analytica came to us after surviving something unimaginable: Grade 4 vaginal tear that required multiple emergency surgeries. Her journey began at Waller Equine Hospital, and continued at Houston Humane Society, where our team prepared her for surgery, gave her daily medical support, and helped her heal both physically and emotionally.

Today, Analytica is fully healed. She's strong, calm, and filled with life. She never lost her gentle spirit, and now 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞 where she’ll never know pain or fear again. ❤️

After years of service in the Army, Tedd struggled with the transition to civilian life. That’s when his wife introduced him to Paws for Heroes, a nonprofit that rescues and trains shelter dogs to become emotional support companions for veterans with PTSD—at no cost.

That’s where Dougie’s story began—rescued by the Houston Humane Society from a cruelty case. Despite his past, Dougie was sweet, trusting, and full of potential. He went through professional training and was matched with Tedd. The connection was instant. ❤️

At a recent event in District J, our Pets for Life team partnered with Indus Communities and Council Member Edward Pollard and team to bring essential care to families in need.

✅ 67 pets vaccinated
✅ 50 families registered into the program
✅ no pet went home from the event with an empty bowl

Not every cat is into hugs, and that’s okay. Some prefer a little scratch behind the ears or a slow blink from across the room.

Cats are great at setting boundaries. If they flick their tail, avoid eye contact, or tuck their ears back for more than a few seconds, they’re probably asking for space.
