Timothy didn’t just find a home. He became part of a love story. 💙

His mom sent us this Happy Tail update:

"Timothy came to me from the Humane Society after being rescued from an abuse and animal hoarding situation—severely underweight, battling mange, hookworms, pinworms, and more. What began in my first apartment became a journey of healing, trust, and transformation as he slowly learned what love felt like. Along the way, Timothy introduced me to my best friend by confidently greeting her dogs, and not long after, he welcomed the man who would become my fiancé—the two fell in love instantly. Today, Timothy is thriving in a home filled with cat sisters, a giant yard, and endless affection, belly rubs, toys and he will forever be woven into my love story."

Timothy has also mastered the art of dressing for every occasion. He looks just as handsome in a bandana as he does in a tux or Halloween costume!

We’re so happy to see how much this sweet boy is loved.

On Saturday, November 7, Houston Humane Society will host Community Equine Care Day, an equine castration (gelding) clinic designed to make this important care more accessible to local horse owners.

This low-cost gelding clinic will take place at the Houston Humane Society Pavilion:

⏰ 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
🐴 $275 per horse

There’s no cost to preregister, but spaces are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Horses must be current on their tetanus vaccination, and owners must be available to monitor their horses for 24 to 48 hours after the procedure.

Celebrating National Dog Month! 🐶❤️

National Dog Month is all about celebrating the love, joy, and companionship dogs bring into our lives, and we’re celebrating the incredible kennel techs who help make every day special for our furry friends! 🐾

From filling fresh food bowls and providing clean water to keeping our animals comfortable, healthy, and loved, our kennel techs play such an important role in their daily care. Every meal served and every cuddle given with compassion!

Black cats are a Halloween icon. This time of year, they pop up everywhere, from decorations to costumes.

They also show up a lot in shelters and rescues, where they're the second most common color behind multi-colored kitties.

Long-time myths suggest black cats are harmed or ‘sacrificed’ in the months leading up to All Hallow’s Eve. The animal welfare community – including the Humane Society of the United States, ASPCA, Best Friends, and Operation Kindness – vehemently denies and debunks these myths.

Additionally, according to cat rescue organization Alley Cat Allies, “black cats are in no more danger on Halloween than any other time of the year.”

Any time of year is perfect for bringing home a midnight kitty.
