When Reid stopped eating and began vomiting, his family knew something wasn’t right. They brought him to the ER at MedVet Indianapolis, where our team performed an abdominal ultrasound and found a linear foreign body that needed emergency surgery.

The culprit? A hairball! 🧶

Thanks to quick diagnostics and surgical care, Reid is now on the mend and rocking an adorable onesie collection to protect his incision. We’re so glad he’s feeling better and back on the road to recovery!

When Maia arrived at WestVet Boise's ER with a stick in her eye, her family feared the worst. But thanks to quick action from our Emergency team and a detailed CT scan, we discovered the stick hadn’t penetrated her eyeball, it was lodged between the eye and her bony socket. What a relief!

Surgery with Drs. Katy Campbell West and Sami Pederson successfully removed the stick, and Maia kept her eye with minimal inflammation. Just two weeks later, she was back for a recheck—and looking amazing!

We’re so proud of Maia’s resilience and grateful we could help her feel better.

When Buffy was diagnosed with B cell lymphoma, we recommended a treatment plan centered on the CHOP chemotherapy protocol. CHOP is a common and effective multi-drug protocol used to treat lymphoma in dogs. It combines four different medications to target cancer cells in various ways, helping pets like Buffy live longer, happier lives.

At her recent recheck appointment with Dr. Karina Valerius and the incredible Medical Oncology team at MedVet Cincinnati, we celebrated her inspiring journey back to feeling happy and healthy. 🎉

Tick season is here, and some MedVet locations across the states are seeing a rise in tick-related concerns as warmer weather sets in. 🌞

Dr. Rachel Meyer from MedVet Chicago recently spoke with WGN TV about how to protect your pets from ticks this summer, “some ticks, like deer ticks, are really tiny and almost impossible to find on your dog’s hairs. Common spots include between the toes and around the eyes—but really, ticks can latch on anywhere.”

Tips to consider to keep your pets safe from ticks:
✔️Stick to the middle of trails
✔️Keep pets leashed
✔️Use vet-recommended tick preventatives
✔️Do thorough tick checks after outdoor time

📺 Watch the full WGN segment + get tips to stay tick-safe all summer long:

Check yourself and your pets after spending time in areas where ticks live, which include wooded or grassy areas.

Abby the warrior pup just wrapped up her second CHOP chemotherapy, a multi-drug chemotherapy protocol commonly used to treat lymphoma in dogs. This treatment includes a carefully timed combination of medications to target cancer cells while keeping pets as comfortable as possible.

Abby was first diagnosed with lymphoma in October 2023 and responded beautifully to treatment with Dr. Maura Faller and our Oncology team at MedVet Cincinnati. When her lymphoma returned over a year later, her family chose to restart chemo, and once again, Abby showed her fighting spirit. 💪

We’re all cheering for this sweet girl and are so proud of her progress!

MedVet is celebrating National Nonprofit Day by spotlighting a very special program near and dear to our caregivers: the AVMF REACH Program.

We understand unexpected pet emergencies and specialty veterinary care may be a financial burden for pet families — this program breaks down barriers to access veterinary care by offering grants to over 100,000 AVMA members nationwide. Through the AVMF REACH Program and on behalf of our clients, MedVet veterinarians proudly support charitable care when financial barriers could keep patients from getting the care they need.

If you're interested and able to support pet owners in financial need, please consider making a donation to AVMF's REACH Program by clicking the donation link on this post.
