🐱 Does This Cat Look Familiar?

Meet Ross—our beloved clinic cat (and, truthfully, part-time boss).

He’s been a treasured member of the WHVC family for over 14 years.

Ross’s story is nothing short of incredible:

He was rescued by one of our team members after she witnessed him being thrown from a car window on the highway. With multiple fractures in both back legs, he was rushed to safety.

Thanks to the skilled team at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, Ross underwent orthopedic surgery and began his long road to recovery.

Today, Ross lives the good life—spoiled daily by our team, greeting clients, napping in sunbeams, and occasionally supervising customer service from the front desk.

🧡 He’s a survivor, a mascot, and a reminder of why we do what we do.

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Hartis as the newest member of the WHVC team! Some of you may recognize him from his externships with us, and we’re excited to share that he is now officially joining our practice as an associate veterinarian. We’re so happy to have him on board!

Dr. Hartis graduated from the Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2025. He obtained his undergraduate degree in Animal Science from West Texas A&M University in 2021. Dr. Hartis enjoys many aspects of veterinary medicine, but his special interests include preventive medicine, internal medicine, and dermatology. Dr. Hartis is excited to return to his hometown to serve the community and provide compassionate, high-quality veterinary care. He values building relationships with owners and their pets and is committed to helping them lead healthy, happy lives. Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Hartis enjoys running, traveling, and spending time with friends and family. He shares his home with Leo, a spirited brown tabby cat he adopted during veterinary school.

We are delighted to announce the addition of Dr. Phi to the WHVC family. Although she joined our practice just last month, her kind, fun, and outgoing personality has made it feel as though she’s been part of the team for years.

Please join us in extending her a warm welcome!

Due to ongoing weather conditions and concern for the safety of our team members and clients the clinic will be remaining closed for the day. We've received the following noticies from nearby emergency clinics.

VERGI- Is open but with very limited staff. Services should be reserved for true medical emergencies.

Veterinary Emergency Group (Houston Heights)- Currently open but may close soon due to unreliable power.

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists- GCVS emergency services are currently closed

07/08/2024

In light of current weather conditions the clinic will delay opening until 10am today. If your pet has an appointment scheduled with us before 10am we will reach out at some point today to reschedule. We continue to hope that everyone in our area remains safe.

07/07/2024

We are monitoring the weather and will wait to see what happens overnight to decide if the clinic will have a delayed start, forced weather closure, or resume business as usual. Once we've assessed things in our area we will provide another email update around 6:30am tomorrow with a decision that is safest for you and our team members. We hope for the best and that everyone remains safe.
