If anyone is missing a sheep! She was found near downtown Durham

🐑 Did you know that sometimes we get animals other than dogs and cats and small furry friends?

Meet this sweet sheep girl! 💕 She recently needed a little extra TLC after developing an upper respiratory infection, and we’re so happy to report that she’s feeling much better and all set up for success!

A very special thank you to Dr. Kathy Mittenson and her team for taking such great care of this girl and helping get her back on the road to good health. 🩺🐑❤️

We may be best known for our dogs and cats, but every once in a while, a very special sheep joins the mix! 🐑✨

We recently had a case of EOTRH, which is a resorptive dental disease of (primarily) the incisors of older horses. Google the full name and quiz your friends! We see this frequently in older horses and we encourage treatment (extraction) if the horse is clinical. From start to finish here, you see pre-op xrays, pre-op mouth, extracted teeth, and that same mouth several weeks later. This guy has more incisors that can be removed, but we are seeing how he does in stages. !

Kathryn had a great last day with us doing a lot of chiropractic care and a few add-ons! We told her she should do horses instead of dogs and cats and she kept saying "it's too late!". It's never too late! She rocked her rotation and we think she will provide some veterinary medicine to the equine community someday.

This NEW study for horses is evaluating the combination of immunotherapy and electric pulses to treat equine melanoma.

Owners need to be willing to bring their horses to the NC State Veterinary Hospital for a total of three treatments at three-week intervals. The patient will be required to stay overnight for observation as well as timed blood draws.

After each treatment, owners also need to take daily photographs of the tumor site for seven days.

Another aspiring small animal vet with a game face! Kathryn helped castrate a BIG BOY today and did a fabulous job! This week she has helped with equine lameness exams, dentals and extractions, wellness exams/vaccines, and chiropractic care, as well as small ruminant procedures like this one.
