🍂 September is Animal Pain Awareness Month — and as the cooler weather rolls in, it’s a great time to check in on your pet’s comfort. Chronic pain in pets isn’t always obvious, but small changes in behavior can be a big clue.

Signs your pet may be in pain include:
• Limping or favoring one leg
• Decreased activity or reluctance to jump/play
• Changes in appetite or mood
• Excessive licking of a specific area

Whether it’s arthritis, dental issues, or post-injury discomfort, our team can help find relief options that keep tails wagging.

We’re open Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM. Call us at 919-732-9073 to book an exam.

Age is just a number... unless you’re a senior pet in a North Carolina summer.

Older dogs and cats are more sensitive to heat and humidity. If your pet is slowing down, stiff after naps, or not handling walks like they used to, it might be more than just age — it could be time for a wellness check.

At North Churton Animal Hospital, our senior pet care focuses on early detection and making the golden years truly golden. From arthritis support to heart health and lab work, we’re here to keep your best friend feeling their best.

Give us a call to schedule a check-up.
We’re open Monday–Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and some Saturdays from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (every other Saturday—call ahead to confirm!).

Sometimes the little things are actually big things—like the simple act of walking your dog.

Those morning and evening strolls are great for bonding, burning energy, and even managing anxiety (for both of you). But in the summer, even a short walk can lead to burned paws if you’re not careful. 🔥🐾

Here’s a quick way to check:
Press the back of your hand to the pavement.
If you can’t hold it there comfortably for 7 seconds, it’s too hot for paws.

Try walking early or late in the day, stick to grass or shaded areas, and bring water with you.
Hillsborough summers can be toasty, but we can keep them safe with a little extra care.

We’re open Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:30 PM, and every other Saturday from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM (call ahead to confirm!).

Sometimes the signs that your pet isn’t feeling their best are easy to miss. Are they drinking more water than usual? Hiding more? Limping just a little?

🤯🐾 Did You Know...?

Tiny glands in your furbaby's body play a HUGE role in their overall health and happiness! That's the fascinating world of Endocrinology, which deals with hormones and the systems that produce them.

These little chemical messengers control everything from metabolism and growth to mood and even sleep! When these delicate balances are disrupted, it can lead to conditions like:

Diabetes: Affecting blood sugar regulation.
Hypothyroidism/Hyperthyroidism: Impacting metabolism and energy levels.
Cushing's Disease: Related to the adrenal glands.
At North Churton Animal Hospital, we understand the intricate workings of your pet's endocrine system. Recognizing the signs of hormonal imbalances is the first step towards getting them the care they need to live their best, most balanced life!

If you've noticed changes in your pet's weight, energy, thirst, or urination, it could be related to their endocrine health. Our experienced team can investigate and provide tailored treatment plans to bring their system back into harmony.
