When you are at Prestige Farms, you often hear incredible stories about a legend in the industry: Irwin Schimmel. You can witness accolades in the office and see examples of his vision in pastures of incredible mares, offspring, and foals out of legendary bloodlines. Irwin not only knew his stuff, but he had "The Eye" that makes it possible to visualize the right breeding combinations and champions before they ever came close to the arena. Not everyone has that gift, and Irwin had it in spades.
But what makes Irwin such an icon, is more than his expert vision and quality program of champions. No, what makes Irwin an icon is how he shared that vision and his passion with those around him. He supported horseman who were established talent, talented up and coming horseman, or talented and not often spotlighted. He supported the horse dream in his family, and was most proud of them earning their top rides and drives through hard work and dedication. Irwin understood that fundamentals matter, the horse matters and the people matter: winning was an extra reward to the passion put forth.
He built a legacy framed in roses built on a foundation of hard work and love for the horse first. While his legacy continues forward, his impact is forever imprinted on those who knew and loved him. Today we celebrate a legendary horseman, an iconic breeder, and an incredible Father and Grandfather. Happy Heavenly Birthday Irwin, all our rides are dedicated to you!💙🐴
