’Twas the Night Before Rescue (New Hope Edition)
’Twas the night before rescue,
At New Hope so bright,
Not a paw was a-stirring
Deep into the night.
The kennels were quiet,
The lights softly low,
As dreams of forever homes
Started to glow.
The puppies were curled
In blankets so warm,
While kittens purred softly,
Sheltered safe from the storm.
The volunteers whispered,
“Sleep sweet, it’s okay,”
As worried little noses
Began to relax and stay.
When out by the gate
There arose such a sound,
I hurried from the office
And hurried around.
I flicked on the lights
And opened the door,
And found latest arrivals
Cold, tired, and sore.
Their tails slowly wagged,
Their eyes full of fear,
But they’d made it to New Hope —
They were safe, they were here.
I spoke not a word,
But went straight to my care,
With food bowls and blankets
And gentle hands there.
Each paw that had suffered,
Each heart torn apart,
Was stitched back with kindness,
With patience and heart.
From Henderson’s streets
And the county nearby,
They found their way home
Under New Hope’s kind sky.
When morning arrived
And the sun soft and gold,
New families waited,
With hearts brave and bold.
And I heard every bark
And soft, thankful sigh say:
“Thank you, dear New Hope,
For saving the day.”
So wagging to all,
And in warm kennel light,
Happy rescue to all —
And to all a good night.
MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone and thank you for all the support, donations and love you have given us at New Hope Animal Rescue!! ~Paula~
