“Because I don’t want that for myself anymore” is one of the healthiest sentences you can ever say.
You don’t need a dramatic ending, a long explanation or anyone else’s approval to change direction. Growth often looks like recognizing that something no longer aligns with the life you’re building, the peace you’re protecting or the person you’re becoming.
It is perfectly okay to outgrow habits, relationships, mindsets and patterns that once felt familiar. Familiar does not always mean healthy and history does not always deserve access to your future.
Choosing differently is not selfish. It is wisdom. It is self-respect. It is honoring the person you are today instead of remaining loyal to a version of yourself you have already outgrown.
You are allowed to walk away from anything that costs you your peace, your joy or your sense of self. Sometimes the most powerful reason you can give is simply this: “I want better for my life.”
And that reason is more than enough.
