🌹🐴 Sera Update! 🌹🐴

Our favorite boss mare is still in quarantine and doing well as we start her training!

We have been working on getting her care plan in place. Whenever a new horse is onboarded, it is important to get all health records transfered and create a care plan to best manage their needs. A care plan includes:

✅️ A Balanced Diet with Medication

✅️ Hoofcare & Chiropractor Schedule

✅️ Conditioning & Exercise Routine

✅️ Veterinary Care

✅️ Equipment Cleaning & Fitting

✅️ Herd Transitions

Sera has a lot of upcoming appointments with the farrier, ergonomist, chiropractor, nutitionist, and veterinarian! Her care plan is well underway and we are making adjustments as needed as she settles in!

We are happy to have Sera here with us at True Blue Equine and helping her settle in! Bringing on a new member of the herd is always exciting and there is a lot to be done to ensure that we set her up for success!

Over the next week or so we will be sharing some strategies for onboarding new horses and integrating them into the herd!

Sera is in quarantine right now. She is healthy as can be, but quarantine is a biosecurity measure that is put into place for all new horses being introduced to the herd. Sera has separate feed, water, equipment, and turnout space and we are monitoring her daily to ensure that she doesnt have any hidden infections. She will be in quarantine for 14 days.

Quarantine is put into place out of an abundance of caution and is part of industry best practices, but in reality it can sometimes be very stressful for horses to be isolated from others. Sera can see R***r, Keeno, Ami, and several other horses; but I took her on a walk today to get her moving and spend some one on one time together! She loved taking a tour of the farm with me and exploring all the new sights and sounds!

Welcome to the herd and the family, Sara Rose! Sara is a 21 year old Half Arabian mare. She was originally trained in Classic French Dressage and has had extensive Natural Horsemanship training in recent years. We look forward to welcoming her to our lesson program with both kids and adults and are especially excited to welcome her to Boss Mares and Horse Sense programs! Welcome Sara!
