Sweet alum Orion crossed the Rainbow Bridge today with the help of his devoted family. Orion came to us a year and half ago as a transfer from a shelter where he had been found as a stray. At least 12 years old and abandoned. He was 62 lbs on a large frame—emaciated. He was a medical challenge from the start with a neurological issue that caused knuckling in his back feet. Which could only mean, eventually he’d lose control of his hind end. His foster mom took him to different therapies and vet appointments twice, sometimes three times a week. She fed him, watched over him, loved him when no one else did. Orion bamboozled his way into his foster family’s hearts. They adopted him. He had his own family. One that loved him, until his last breath. They gave him two amazing summers that I know he wouldn’t have had without them. We were sure he was going to die within weeks of him arriving to rescue becuase he had such a terrible bout of HGE. But he lived. And he kept wanting to be here, wanting to be with his family. Orion, OMR, Old Man River, You gave a lesson in love, resilience, and old man strength. We love you buddy. We know you found Indi and Briar on the other side.
