We had the pleasure of having Teddy and Norman, two beautiful Blue and Gold Macaws from Soft Landings Parrot Rescue, for their wellness exams and bloodwork! 🩺🦜

Routine wellness visits are just as important for our feathered friends as they are for dogs and cats. Regular examinations and bloodwork can help us catch potential health concerns early and keep these incredible birds thriving.

Thank you to Soft Landings Parrot Rescue for trusting us with Teddy and Norman’s care! 💙💚

We think these two did a pretty fantastic job showing off their personalities during their visit! 🦜

Teddy and Norman had a repeat visit to the vet today. They did amazing.
We Love Dr Hamlin and her staff so very much. They take the best care of our flock.

🚨 New World Screwworm Confirmed in Texas: What Oklahoma Pet Owners Should Know 🚨

Recent detections of the New World screwworm in parts of Texas have raised concerns for veterinarians, livestock producers, and pet owners across the region. While there are no established cases in Oklahoma, this serves as an important reminder to stay vigilant and monitor your pets for wounds.

Unlike typical maggots that feed on dead tissue, New World screwworm larvae feed on living, healthy tissue, causing painful wounds that can worsen quickly without treatment.

Animals at risk include:
• Dogs and cats
• Horses
• Cattle
• Sheep and goats
• Wildlife
• Any warm-blooded animal (including humans in rare cases)

⚠️ Watch for these signs:
• A wound that isn’t healing
• Swelling, redness, or bleeding
• A foul odor from a wound
• Excessive licking or discomfort
• Visible maggots in a wound

What Oklahoma pet owners should do:
✔️ Check your pets regularly for cuts, scrapes, hot spots, and surgical incisions.
✔️ Keep wounds clean and protected.
✔️ Seek veterinary care promptly if a wound appears infected or contains maggots.
✔️ Stay up to date on your pet’s parasite prevention and follow your veterinarian’s recommendations.

At this time, there is no need for panic in Oklahoma. Animal health officials are actively monitoring the situation, and veterinarians remain informed on how to recognize and respond to potential cases. Awareness and early treatment are the best tools we have to protect our pets.

If your pet develops a concerning wound or you notice anything unusual, don’t hesitate to contact our hospital. We’re here to help keep your pets healthy and safe.

Can you guess what parasite this is?! 🔬🤔

We found a few of these little guys on one of our patients this morning, a Guinea Pig named Tiny Tim💚

Pictured below is the parasite in question AND Tiny Tim snuggled up with Dr Hamlin while she examines his leg 🥹

Did you know?? 🤔

A Bearded Dragon's beard can change color depending on how they're feeling! A darker beard may mean they're stressed, excited, trying to warm up, or communicating with other dragons. It's one of the coolest ways these reptiles "talk" without saying a word.

Basically, their beard makes them a mood ring with legs! 😂

Pictured below is Mushu, the sweetest but sassiest little guy 🧡

Yesterday was a very special day for a very special person!

Please help us in saying...

🎉HAPPY BIRTHDAY DR. HAMLIN!!! 🎉

She's one of the most compassionate, dedicated and incredible veterinarians we know 🐾🩷

Her kindness, patience and love for every animal (and every worried pet parent!) make such a difference each and every day. We are beyond grateful for the hard work, heart and joy she brings to our team and hospital family.

So thank you for always going above and beyond, for treating every patient like your own and for being such an amazing person inside and out! We truly love and appreciate you more than words can say! 🥹🫶🏼

p.s. - we miss you and hope you're having the best time in Florida

ps..ps... Please come back, we're flapping😂😅
(It's an inside joke, if you get it you get it 👀)
