A luxating patella—also called a dislocated kneecap—is a common orthopedic issue in dogs, especially smaller breeds (but it can affect any dog!). 🐶 In this condition, the kneecap slips out of its normal groove in the thigh bone, which can cause limping, skipping steps, or holding a leg up. Severity can range from mild, where it slips back into place on its own, to more serious cases that require surgery. Early diagnosis and treatment can help keep your dog comfortable and active! 🦴💙
