We are excited to recognize Frankie as our newest SWAC VIP!

Frankie has certainly had a lot on his plate over the years. Throughout his battle with Small Cell Lymphoma and FIV, he has faced every challenge with resilience, strength, and a fighting spirit that continues to inspire us. Alongside the dedicated team at CVETS Columbia Veterinary Emergency Trauma and Specialty, we’re been honored to be part of his journey. Patients like Frankie remind us why we do what we do.

When Frankie isn’t visiting us, you’ll usually find him enjoying Churu treats, having conversations with anyone who will listen, or supporting his siblings during their own medical journey. His story started when his owner heard him meowing outside and decided to investigate. Since then, he has been an important part of a much larger family.

FOUND DOG ‼️

This sweet pup was found last week near Platt Springs Rd and Emanuel Church Rd in Lexington, SC.
He is not microchipped, and appears to be fairly young - around 1-year old. He’s incredibly friendly, and we’d love to help reunite him with his family.

Introducing SWAC VIPs!

Many of you may remember our Pet of the Month features. We’re excited to share a small change, but with the same great purpose! Going forward, we’ll be recognizing “SWAC VIPs (Very Important Pets)”

This new format gives us more flexibility to highlight all of the amazing pets that make our clinic so special. Whether it’s for their bravery, loyalty, a special milestone, or simply for being an unforgettable part of the SWAC family, we want to recognize them when they deserve it - without taking the spotlight away from another well-deserving pet.

Today, we’re honored to introduce our very first SWAC VIP…

Lilly! 🩷

Lilly is a longtime, and loyal patient at Shandon-Wood Animal Clinic. She is one of the sweetest girls you’ll ever meet and one of the bravest pets we see daily. We are now 2 weeks away from the 4th of July! Please remember to request any medications your pet(s) may need. Here are some helpful tips to prepare for the upcoming celebrations. We hope you and your family have a wonderful 4th of July!!

Beat the 4th of July rush! 🎆

We are now less than a month away from the 4th of July, and we want to make sure that your pet(s) are prepared. Loud fireworks can be scary, and we understand that many pets need medications to help manage their anxiety during these events. Waiting until the last minute to request these medications can cause delays, or even prevent your pet from getting the medication they need. Whether you need medication filled here, called into a local pharmacy, or a written prescription, we urge you to request it sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the longer it will take our staff to review, approve, and fill these requests. Standard prescription requests take 24-48hrs to fill. During holidays, these fulfilment times can be increased.

~Important reminders~

•Annual Exams: Pets must be seen at our clinic for an exam at least once a year. If it has been over a year since your pet's last visit with one of our veterinarians, we must see them before we can approve medication refills.

•First-Time Anxiety Meds: If your pet has never taken anxiety medication for fireworks before, an appointment may be necessary so you and your veterinarian can discuss if/what medication is best for your pet.

•Deadlines: We are closed on the 4th of July. All medications must be picked up before holiday closure. We require all requests to be submitted no later than 48 hours prior to July 4th.
