Happy Halloween from the Cleveland APL! 🧡👻

Last Sunday, 12 of our pups and their favorite humans got into the Halloween spirit for our annual Halloween Pack Walk! Decked out in their spookiest (and cutest) costumes, the crew set off from the Cleveland APL and made their way to Monroe Street Cemetery for photos and a well-deserved treat break.

Between the costumes, the laughs, and the tail wags, this boo-tiful crew had a howling good time!

A huge THANK YOU to our amazing volunteers who make adventures like these possible. Your time, love, and dedication mean the world to our animals, and we know these pups had a Halloween to remember!

Meet Tooter Turtle! This 2-year-old kitty has been through a lot, but he hasn’t let that dim his sweet spirit one bit. 🖤

Tooter came to us as a friendly stray after a kind individual noticed he had an injured tail. He needed surgery to remove part of his tail and is feeling much more comfortable and rocking the cutest little tail nub!

Now, Tooter is ready for his next chapter: finding a loving home of his very own.

He is incredibly friendly, loves pets, and is just too cute for words! He does have progressive feline leukemia virus (FeLV), a condition that can affect his immune system. Because FeLV can spread to other cats, Tooter will need to be the only cat in his home or live with other FeLV-positive cats. He'll need an adopter who understands his needs, can provide regular veterinary care, and lots of love.

We know there’s someone out there who will see Tooter for the wonderful cat he is and give him the safe, cozy home he deserves. Could that be you? Stop in to meet him!

Will you help out our tiniest furry friends? 🐱❤

We’re running low on two items that make a BIG difference: chicken baby food and Churu treats!

Chicken baby food helps young kittens learn to eat on their own and encourages sick kitties who need extra TLC, while Churu treats help us win over shy cats and build trust with nervous newcomers. Two small treats that can make a world of difference!

Would you like to help?

Our Halloween Pack Walk yesterday was full of treats, tail wags, and some pretty great pups! We’ll be sharing more from the fun later this week, but first, we have a very special Beagle who deserves a moment in the spotlight. Meet Patches! 🎃

At 10 years old, Patches is a goofy, lovable gentleman who’s ready for a cozy home where he can enjoy his golden years in peace. And if you’re wondering what makes this guy extra special, may we introduce you to his favorite hobby: toy collecting.

Patches loves gathering toys, carrying them around, and bringing them back to his kennel to add to his collection. He’s got an entertaining personality, a goofy Beagle bark, and a nose that’s always ready to lead him on his next adventure!

This sweet senior is looking for a quieter home where he can sniff, explore, and simply enjoy the good life. He'd do best in a home without cats and may do well with other dogs pending a meet and greet.

Patches has so much love and laughs to share with a new family! If he sounds like the guy for you, come meet him at the Cleveland APL!

6 months at the shelter? That’s far too long for this adorably good boy! 🥹🫶

Meet Pongo, a 4-year-old happy pup who recently hit 6 months at the APL, and his volunteer bestie made sure he got to do 6 new things to celebrate in hopes his new family sees just how amazing he is.

The celebration included a trip to the solstice steps, ice cream at Mason's Creamery, pumpkin patch posing, spooky Halloween stops, an animal blessing at Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, a nap on the couch watching a baseball game, zoomies at Edgewater, and more!

And after all these field trips, here's what we know about Pongo: He's ridiculously lovable, has an award-winning smile, loves to be silly, snores like a champ, is the very best buddy and is so cute you just want to squeeze him. Basically, he's the kind of dog who makes ordinary days feel special just by being part of them.

But as much fun as his field trips are, there's one adventure Pongo is still waiting for: going home. 6 months is a long time for a dog who has so much love to give, and we know someone is out there for this extremely lovable pup.

Come meet Pongo at the Cleveland APL and help us make his next big adventure the one that takes him home!
