Shades on - Smitty is ready for summer!

This handsome goofball is a total ham with a big derpy personality. Smitty wants to be everyone's friend and he's a total ham for attention. He is known for hopping up on benches he passes on walks to in the hopes of initiating a snuggle session. Or he might lean his whole self against you to maximize contact - a total love bug.

At about a year old, Smitty is basically a floppy oversized puppy. He is playful, curious, fun-loving and active, with just a touch of mischievousness to keep life interesting. He is stoked about life and can get over excited and jumpy at times, but he has been doing a great job picking up on cues to settle, though he would still likely do best in a home without young kids due to his occasional rough-house approach to play. He clearly has some smarts and would do great in a home where he can keep his mind and body active. With other dogs he has been playfully social, and he might enjoy a canine playmate in his future home.

Once Smitty has a chance to burn some yayas, his loving side really shines. He already knows how to sit solidly - sometimes he practically poses for pictures when you ask him to. He is engaging and attentive and responds well to guidance. He's a young dog with a bright mind who is ready to bust out of the kennel environment.

Smitty is estimated to be around a year old and weighs a roly-poly 49 lbs.

Meet Ace, a sweet young pup who is looking forward to brighter days ahead. Ace has a big heart and after spending a couple months of his youth getting overlooked in a kennel, he's hoping to find his home soon!

Ace may not have had the easiest start to life. He has an awkward gait, and it is suspected it could have come from being very underweight and spending a lot of time on hard surfaces as he's been growing. So he is certainly ready for his chance to be a pampered family dog.

Recently, Ace got to go on an extended sleepover so he could get a break and show his good boy potential. Ace is an affectionate pup and loves spending time with people. When given the choice, snuggling is the activity he chooses most of the time. He is getting more playful with time but likes to bring his favorite toy near his person to enjoy, sometimes right on your lap.

Ace has some puppyish tendencies still, but he's a bright dog and he has been quickly picking up on the household routine. He settles quickly in his crate and is rapidly mastering the house-training schedule. He loves his Kongs especially, and is content to hang out on his own when he has one. When Ace gets to greet you when you come home or first snuggle on the couch, sometimes he can't contain his excitement, but again is learning to unwind and relax quicker each day. With time away from the kennel, you can see him decompressing and unwinding all the time.

In play group at the kennel, Ace has had a social, gentle yet puppyish play style. And in his temporary foster home, he has been able to politely meet/hang out with the cats. He's a sweet guy with lots of potential!

Ace is estimated to be around 10-12 months old and weighs 35 lbs, and is still growing. Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

Everyday is when you live with sweet blockhead Merlin!
And he can't wait to cast his love spell on his future family. This short stack cutie is all about kisses, cuddles, and nonstop charm and he does it all with an easy-going, gentle demeanor.

Now living in a foster home, Merlin is showing he's got skills -he has great leash manners, seems housebroken, and slips right into the household routine like a pro. He's happiest hanging with his people, but also does well settling into his crate to relax. With other dogs during his play group assessment he was sociable and appears friendly and excited at seeing the foster resident dog. He is a mild-mannered sweet boy that does well being left alone - no destruction of any kind, not even his own toys!

Merlin hasn't had the easiest start - he tested positive for heartworm when he arrived at the kennel - but the good news is he is completing treatment, and his care is fully covered by Friends of City Dogs Cleveland. He received his treatment in May, and is currently relaxing and recovering in his foster home. He is available for adoption at any time ... he just needs some rest for several weeks while he eases back into being his happy, silly self. He is loving all the snuggles and attention while he recovers and would surely enjoy this in his forever home.

Merlin is estimated to be around a year old and weighs 60 lbs. Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!

Meet Princess, a sweet dumpling of a lady who is looking for a quiet home where she can be pampered. Princess is a total people-dog and loves engaging with humans. Based on her good manners and pleasantly plump shape, we suspect Princess was somebody's princess before and is very much missing home life.

Princess has been staying full-time as an office dog at kennel, and she makes a easy, quiet, sweet assistant. She is sweet and affectionate with people coming and going, and loves leaning in or flopping over for belly rubs and butt scratches. She is gently curious about what you're doing whether she can get a few pets (or snacks) out of it. If you're busy, she settles down onto a comfy bed to hang out. She is housebroken, great in the crate (goes in easily, sometimes chooses to go in and hang out on her own), and hasn't gotten into anything she shouldn't. She also knows how to sit and takes her treats gently.

Overall Princess is a pretty chill gal, but she does have a peppy, spunky side. For a potato, she can bust a move in the yard when she gets excited about a favorite toy. Stuffies, beware! Princess also enjoys going for strolls and can pull occasionally for things she's curious about, but much of the time settles into an easy-going pace. Princess would probably enjoy the chance to be the only dog and soaking up all the attention for herself. She was gentle socializing with other dogs in play group and might do fine living with another lower-key dog, but she does not enjoy rowdy behavior. She is more content being able to bop around and do her own thing. She also is looking for a home without cats or other small animals.

Princess is looking for a calm, loving home where she can get back to being a couch potato. With some soft places to lay and some attention, she's content. She is estimated to be around 5 years old and weighs 64 lbs.

Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog if you're ready to help this Princess find her comfy castle.

Eleven is ready to roll out of here in style! This girl is so lovable, you might say she's an 11 out of 10! A few descriptions from volunteers who have met her include "very nice dog" and "well-behaved good girl."

Sweet Eleven is lively yet mild-mannered, ready to match the vibe whether you feel like going for a stroll or simply hanging out and watching the world go by together. She occasionally busts out some hilarious zoomies in the play yards, but she always comes back to check in with her person. She will lean right against you for pets and gives appreciative kisses in return.

Eleven would likely feel right at home on a comfy couch of her own. Once she settles into a home routine, she seems like she'll have a moderate energy level. Those who meet her comment that she is smart and attentive - eager to please and quick to pick up on guidance. Her ideal home would be one where someone can be home with her much of the time so she can bask in attention. Eleven was gently social for her play group assessment and she previously lived with other dogs. She is estimated to be around a year old and weighs 49 lbs.

Meet miss Wonderful, Wynnie! Aka the cutest little gremlin you'll see, according to our clinic staff. Wynnie is a sweet, happy-go-lucky, people-loving pup who trundles along through life with a big smile and wagging tail.

Wynnie's favorite place to be is in your lap! She is very snuggly and could spend all day soaking up pets and butt scratches. She's a wiggly ham for attention and just loves being close to her humans.

While not basking in cuddles, Wynnie enjoys bopping around on walks or with a toy. She has been easy for volunteers to manage on leash, and she likes taking plenty of breaks on our benches for snuggle. She is curious about what's going on around her but also listens well and re-focuses on her person when asked. She already knows how to sit and seems like she could be housebroken. With other dogs, Wynnie was been social and playful for her play group assessment.

Wynnie weighs a stout 47 lbs and is estimated to be around 3 years old. Visit www.tinyurl.com/meetacitydog to set up a meet!
