The mission of the Cleveland Division of Animal Care and Control is to reduce the number of stray and unwanted animals by enforcing City animal ordinances and connecting residents to low-cost spay & neuter services. ‼️This is a reminder of why it is so important to turn found dogs in to your local animal control in the city where the pet was found.‼️

This senior dog was found in Cleveland and taken outside of the city, where she was never reported to us as found or held at a proper facility within city limits. Fortunately, we were able to impound her and place her on hold. The very next day, her owner called looking for her missing dog after being directed by a friend to check animal control.

The owner did not have social media and had no idea where to start looking until she was advised to contact us.

We also want to remind the public that we only service the City of Cleveland. If a dog is brought to us that was not found within city limits, we cannot accept it and will refer you to the appropriate shelter or kennel.

We are so grateful this sweet senior girl is back home where she belongs. 🏡 🐾

Our kennel is currently at capacity, and we have many dogs waiting to be reunited with their families. One of the biggest challenges we see is that many pet owners simply don’t know where to look when their dog goes missing.

🐾 As we wrap up Microchip Your Pet Month, we wanted to share a heartwarming reminder of why microchips are so important.

We recently received a call about a stray dog who was severely matted. After safely securing her, we scanned her for a microchip and discovered she had one. Her name is Luna, and she had been missing for 2 years!

Because Luna’s owners had kept their microchip information up to date, we were able to contact them right away. Thanks to that tiny chip, Luna is now happily reunited with her family after two long years apart. ❤️

A microchip can be the difference between a lost pet and a reunion.

If your pet isn’t microchipped yet, we’re here to help! You can have your pet microchipped for just $25 during our regular business hours.
