🐾 Can pets help us live longer?

A new study funded by the Human Animal Bond Research Institute (HABRI) and conducted by researchers at the University of Guelph will explore whether pet ownership is linked to increased longevity in older adults.

Researchers will examine how factors such as companionship, reduced loneliness, increased physical activity, and stronger social connections may contribute to healthier aging and a longer life.

At Pets for the Elderly, we see the power of the human-animal bond every day. Senior pets and senior people often find exactly what they need in one another—companionship, purpose, comfort, and unconditional love.

We're excited to follow this important research and continue supporting adoptions that change lives for both pets and people.

Today is National Rescue Dog Day! 🐾❤️

Across the country, rescue dogs are waiting for someone to see what shelters and adopters already know — they are loving, loyal companions deserving of a second chance.

At Pets for the Elderly, we’re proud to support senior pet adoption programs that help older adults and rescue pets find comfort, companionship, and joy together. Time and again, we see how adopting a rescue dog can change two lives at once.

Today, we celebrate every rescue dog who found a loving home, every shelter and rescue organization working tirelessly on their behalf, and every adopter who opened their heart to a pet in need.

If you’ve adopted a rescue dog, thank you for giving them the second chance they deserve. 🐶
