Fur-ever forever!

Hello! I'm Bowen, a 9-year-old pup. When I first arrived at the shelter, I felt really scared and anxious, which made me exhibit the typical little dog syndrome. However, as I began to receive love from the animal control officers, I started to relax. Now, I'm a sweet and affectionate little boy who loves to offer my paw for a treat. I also enjoy having my back scratched, and when I do, I lie flat on the floor and stretch out my hind legs to show just how much I'm loving it. I'm really hoping to find my Fur-Ever Home before Easter, so please Hop on down to the shelter and let me show you how sweet I can be.

When adopting an animal, you can expect the following:
First three days: Animals may be overwhelmed as they get used to their new surroundings.
After three weeks: They may feel more comfortable and have a better understanding of their routine.
Three months after adoption: Animals feel safe, secure, and ready to build a trusting bond with you as their pet parent.
It's important to note that the behavior exhibited by animals in the shelter often does not accurately represent their true personality at home, largely due to the high-stress conditions of the shelter.

Our Dog Adoption Fee is $100 and includes:
• Spay/Neuter
• First DAPP and Rabies Vaccination
• Deworming

We have exciting news to share! Last night, Lakewood City Council officially voted to pass an updated ordinance that makes our city much friendlier for our neighborhood "community cats."

New regulations permit Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), which is a proven, humane way to care for outdoor cats while naturally reducing overpopulation. They mean that neighbors can legally now:

Care for local community cats.
Get them fixed and provided with medical care.
Help manage cat colonies safely and effectively.

This win was 2 years in the making! The CCLAS team worked with city leaders, animal control, and local advisors to make this happen. We’re very hopeful for what this means for our furry neighbors and the Lakewood community!

So what’s next? We’ll be sharing training and best practices soon so we can work together using the best methods possible.
