Tennessee Aquarium

Tennessee Aquarium A remarkable journey from the mountains to the sea! Within our two buildings, you’ll trace the path of water from the mountains to the sea.

Come face-to-face with the fascinating native animals that live in our backyards and the amazing creatures that thrive in some of the most remote locations on Earth. We celebrate the rich biodiversity of the Southeast through our exhibits and are actively engaged in preserving and restoring that biodiversity through our work in the field.

Catfish deserve fan clubs, too.

It's National Catfish Month, so we're shining a spotlight on one of our most impressive freshwater residents: the Goonch Catfish.

Native to rivers across South Asia, these powerful predators can grow to more than 6 feet long and tip the scales at over 200 pounds. They're equipped with sensitive whisker-like barbels that help them navigate murky water and locate food when visibility is low.

You can spot the Goonch hanging out in his favorite spot on top of a submerged crate in our River Giants exhibit.

Salami’s getting back-to-school ready.🦎

Before our animal ambassadors head back into classrooms, we’ve gotta make sure everyone remembers the ground rules...
Good luck to all the students and teachers starting a new school year! 💙

Kicking off the new school year by showing appreciation to teachers! 🍎

We had a blast hosting educators from across the region in our S.T.R.E.A.M. Learning Center for a preview of our educational programs. Plus, we got to send them off with some back-to-school goodie bags! 🛍️

Teachers are the heart of our community. Without them, we couldn't teach the next generation why water is so important. Thank you for all you do, and happy first week back to school! 🌊

This year for Shark Week, we're taking things small and highlighting the little shark species that call Stingray Bay home at the Tennessee Aquarium. Join us virtually as we do a morning feed, talk about the sharks, and then dive into the other elasmobranch relatives in Stingray Bay.
