Tennessee Aquarium

Tennessee Aquarium A remarkable journey from the mountains to the sea! Within our two buildings, you’ll trace the path of water from the mountains to the sea.

Come face-to-face with the fascinating native animals that live in our backyards and the amazing creatures that thrive in some of the most remote locations on Earth. We celebrate the rich biodiversity of the Southeast through our exhibits and are actively engaged in preserving and restoring that biodiversity through our work in the field.

Did you know our 618,000-gallon Secret Reef exhibit is modeled after a real place? Located 100 miles off the coast of Texas and Louisiana, NOAA's Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary consists of 17 reefs and banks enclosed in 19 distinct boundaries. This protected marine sanctuary is a vital habitat for aquatic life.

This World Reef Day, you can help keep coral reefs like Flower Garden Banks safe by taking simple steps like reducing your reliance on single-use plastics that pollute our freshwater rivers and streams. Remember: all waterways eventually lead to the ocean!
