Dr. Rose and his son Lucas, who is currently in veterinary school and back with us for the summer, spent part of their day caring for the hardworking Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs for Forrest Green Farm.

From wellness exams to preventive care, keeping working dogs healthy is an important part of supporting the farms and families that rely on them every day. We're proud to care for our local hard-working farm animals so they receive the care they need.

Tip Tuesday: Keep Toxic Plants Out of Reach 🌿🐾

Houseplants can brighten up your home, but did you know that some common plants can be harmful to pets?

Many cats and dogs are naturally curious and may nibble on leaves, flowers, or stems. Unfortunately, certain plants can cause anything from mild stomach upset to serious health emergencies.

🚫 Some common toxic plants include:
• Lilies (especially dangerous for cats)
• Sago palms
• Aloe vera
• Tulips and daffodils
• Pothos
• Philodendrons

Signs of plant toxicity may include:
✔ Vomiting or diarrhea
✔ Excessive drooling
✔ Loss of appetite
✔ Lethargy
✔ Difficulty breathing or changes in behavior

Before bringing a new plant home, take a moment to make sure it’s pet-friendly. If you’re unsure whether a plant is safe, it’s always best to check first.

💙 A little prevention can go a long way in keeping your furry family members safe. If you suspect your pet has chewed on a toxic plant, contact us right away.

Over the past week, several members of our team and their family laced up their running shoes and took on the O’Hilly Race! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️⛰️

Congratulations to Derek for a 2nd-place finish and Chris for taking 3rd in their age group! Chloe also tackled the course and represented our team well.

A special thank you to Dr. Andersen for hosting this fantastic event. It was a blast!

We love seeing our team spend time together outside of work, especially when it involves staying active, challenging ourselves, and building connections beyond the hospital. Events like these are a great reminder that a strong team is built both in and out of the workplace.

Did you know that many cats don’t naturally drink enough water? In the wild, cats get much of their hydration from their food, which is why some indoor cats may not be inclined to visit their water bowl often.

Staying hydrated is important for your cat’s overall health and can help support healthy kidney and urinary tract function.

Here are a few ways to encourage your cat to drink more water:

✔ Try a pet water fountain. Many cats prefer moving water
✔ Offer wet food as their diet (or at least part of their diet)
✔ Place multiple water bowls throughout your home
✔ Keep water fresh and bowls clean
✔ Experiment with different bowl sizes and materials

Bruce the Corgi puppy was all smiles during his visit with Chloe!

Chloe is one of our wonderful Licensed Veterinary Technicians who has a special way of making our patients feel comfortable, and Bruce was no exception. Between the cuddles, treats, and expert care, he quickly made himself right at home.
We're so lucky to have team members like Chloe caring for our patients, and we can't wait to see Bruce again for his next visit!
