🎃🚪 Trick-or-treaters at the door can be exciting for us, but stressful for our pets. With the doorbell ringing and people coming and going, it’s also an easy time for a pet to slip out unnoticed.

Create a safe space away from the front door with a favorite toy, puzzle feeder, or calming background noise. Before opening the door, take a quick moment to make sure your pet is safely out of the way.

And just in case they do get out, make sure their ID tags and microchip information are up to date.

A few simple precautions can help keep your pets safe while the Halloween fun continues! 👻🧡

Rabies alert for South Charlotte pet parents 🚨

Two raccoons near our practice have tested positive for rabies in the past week. Rabies is preventable, but there’s no cure once symptoms start, so now is the time to make sure your pets are protected.

Here’s what to do:

✅ Check that your dog’s and cat’s rabies vaccines are up-to-date (indoor cats included!)

✅ Keep pets on a leash and supervise time in the yard, especially at dawn and dusk

✅ Secure trash cans and bring pet food bowls inside, so wildlife isn’t drawn to your home

✅ If your pet has any contact with a raccoon, bat, fox, or other wildlife, call us right away. Timing matters.

Glow sticks may be fun for Halloween, but they can be unpleasant for pets who bite into them!

The liquid inside is generally not considered toxic, but it can cause a strong bitter taste, excessive drooling, foaming, and mouth irritation. If your pet chews on a glow stick or glow jewelry, rinse their mouth with water and monitor them closely. 🐾
