When Elmer the Beagle got his paws on some raw chocolate chip dough, things quickly took a turn! 🐶🍪

His pet parents brought him to UrgentVet Carytown, where the team acted quickly to help. With medication to induce vomiting, they discovered Elmer had eaten a whopping 2.4 pounds of dough! 🍞

Raw bread dough can be dangerous for pets because the yeast continues to ferment in their stomach, producing alcohol that can lead to toxicity. Add chocolate to the mix, and it's important to seek veterinary care right away.

Thankfully, Elmer got the care he needed!

When your pet runs into a bit of "Ruff Timing", UrgentVet is here to help. 🐾

Changes in a cat’s litter box habits are often a subtle signal that they need a helping hand. Poopsie recently visited UrgentVet Boca Raton after experiencing frequent urination and signs of urinary discomfort.

Because cats are experts at hiding when they aren't feeling well, monitoring their bathroom routine is one of the best ways to stay ahead of potential health concerns. If your feline companion is straining, visiting the box more often than usual, or vocalizing during use, it is highly recommended to have them checked by a veterinarian right away.

When your regular clinic is closed or fully booked, UrgentVet Boca Raton is here to bridge the gap between your primary vet and the emergency room. We specialize in providing prompt, compassionate care for non-life-threatening issues like urinary discomfort, helping your pet get back to their comfortable, happy self without the long emergency room wait.

Bodhi recently paid a visit to our team at UrgentVet Boca Raton after accidentally ingesting something that wasn't meant for him.

Accidents happen in the blink of an eye, but thanks to his proactive family bringing him in right away, our veterinary team was able to provide the prompt care he needed.

Many common human medications and household products are highly toxic to our four-legged family members. Keeping your pets safe starts with a few simple preventative habits at home:

• Secure all medications: Store all prescriptions, over-the-counter pills, vitamins, and supplements in secure cabinets or high drawers that pets cannot reach.
• Never leave pills on counters: Avoid leaving pill bottles, organizers, or loose medication on kitchen counters, nightstands, or tables where curious pets can knock them over.
• Check the floor: Always double-check your floor immediately if you drop a pill to ensure your pet doesn’t snap it up first.
• Keep bags out of reach: Purses, backpacks, and gym bags often contain medications, sugar-free gum (containing xylitol), or other hazards. Hang them up or store them in a closet as soon as you get home.

If you ever suspect or know your pet has ingested a human medication or anything potentially toxic, please do not wait for symptoms to appear. Seek medical attention as soon as possible by bringing them to a veterinary professional or contacting an animal poison control hotline immediately.

We are so glad we could be there for Bodhi when he needed us! 🐾

Maple recently visited Boca Raton after skipping her afternoon meal and experiencing some vomiting.

Upset stomachs are a frequent reason for clinic visits, especially for curious young pups. When a puppy's digestive system gets disrupted, it is often due to common triggers such as:

• Dietary Indiscretion: Eating rich human food, sudden diet changes, or scavenging scraps that irritate a sensitive stomach.
• Non-Food Items: Accidentally swallowing toys, stuffing, mulch, clothing, or other household objects during play.
• Puppy Parasites: Common internal bugs that frequently affect younger dogs and disrupt their developing immune systems.

Our veterinary team provided Maple with a tailored care plan to soothe her tummy and get her back to her usual, happy self.
