Meet Barik! Those adorable ears may have been trying to tell us something! Barik came to UrgentVet after experiencing discomfort from an ear infection, and our team was ready to help get him feeling better.

Ear infections are one of the most common reasons pets visit the vet and can cause symptoms such as:
Head shaking
Ear scratching
Redness or odor from the ears
Sensitivity when touched around the head
Changes in behavior due to discomfort

While they may seem minor at first, untreated ear infections can become painful and lead to more serious issues over time.

Louie’s upset tummy turned out to be something more serious than a simple stomach bug.

When Louie came to UrgentVet, he was experiencing gastrointestinal upset and just wasn’t feeling like himself. After a thorough examination and diagnostic workup, our team determined that Louie was suffering from pancreatitis—a painful inflammation of the pancreas that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, decreased appetite, lethargy, and abdominal discomfort.

Pancreatitis can range from mild to severe and often requires prompt medical attention to help pets feel better and prevent complications. Thankfully, Louie’s family acted quickly and got him the care he needed.

Know the signs: If your pet is vomiting, refusing food, acting painful, or seems unusually tired, it may be more than just an upset stomach. Early diagnosis and treatment can make a big difference.

Jake gave his family quite the scare after sneaking some chocolate, but this sweet boy was quickly brought to UrgentVet Boca Raton for care!

Chocolate may be a tasty treat for humans, but for dogs it can be toxic and potentially dangerous depending on the type and amount eaten. Signs of chocolate toxicity can include vomiting, diarrhea, restlessness, increased heart rate, tremors, and even seizures.

Thankfully, Jake’s family acted fast and got him the medical attention he needed right away.

Meet Lulu our newest Pet of the Week at UrgentVet! This sweet girl came to see us after experiencing vomiting from eating a corn cob. While corn may seem harmless, corn cobs can be very dangerous for dogs and may cause serious intestinal blockages that require urgent medical attention.

Thankfully, Lulu’s family acted quickly and brought her in for care right away! We’re happy to report this beautiful golden girl was brave, lovable, and full of tail wags during her visit.

Pet Safety Reminder: Corn cobs, bones, toys, socks, and other household items can easily become stuck in your pet’s stomach or intestines. If your pet is vomiting, not eating, lethargic, or you suspect they swallowed something they shouldn’t have, don’t wait to seek care.

Never a dull moment at UrgentVet.🐢

Franklin the Turtle was found and brought to our Belmont location to be evaluated by our team, reminding us that caring for animals can come in all shapes, sizes, and shells. After receiving an exam and supportive care, Franklin headed to Carolina Wildlife Rehabilitation Center the next morning for continued care.

We’re grateful to everyone who stepped in to help get him to safety, and proud of our team for being ready to care for whatever comes through our doors.
