๐Ÿพ A Shout-Out to Our Veterinarians ๐Ÿพ

Dr. Tompkins, Dr. Beebe, & Dr. Carla

Today, we want to recognize the incredible veterinarians who dedicate their lives to caring for your pets.
Every day, they work long shifts filled with back-to-back appointments, surgeries, emergencies, sick pets, healthy pets, difficult cases, and emotional conversations. They often skip breaks, stay late, and carry the weight of every patient they see because they genuinely care.

What happens behind the scenes of an animal hospital isn't always visible. While you may only see a small part of your pet's visit, our doctors and staff are constantly working to provide the best care possible to every patient who walks through our doors.

Veterinary medicine is challenging, demanding, and emotionally exhausting at timesโ€”but our team shows up every day because of their love for animals and their commitment to helping them live healthier, happier lives.

To our veterinarians : thank you for your compassion, dedication, and hard work. And to our clients: thank you for your patience, trust, and understanding as we care for the pets who mean so much to all of us. โค๏ธ๐Ÿพ

๐Ÿพ Protect Your Dog's Paws This Summer

Walk your dog early in the morning or later in the evening when pavement is cooler. Hot sidewalks and asphalt can burn paw pads quickly, especially during the hottest part of the day. If it's too hot for your hand, it's too hot for their paws! โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿถ

Summer Heat Safety for Dogs โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿพ

Summer fun can quickly become dangerous for dogs. Heatstroke is a life-threatening emergency caused by overheating from hot weather, humidity, or excessive exercise.

Dogs at Higher Risk

- Short-nosed breeds (Pugs, Frenchies,Bulldogs, Boston Terriers, Boxers)
- Overweight or senior dogs
- Dogs with heart or breathing problems
- Dogs with thick or dark coats

Signs of Overheating

- Heavy panting
- Excessive drooling
- Seeking shade
- Weakness or reluctance to exercise

If your dog is overheating, move them to a cool area, offer water, wet them with cool water, and use a fan.

Signs of Heatstroke

Seek veterinary care immediately if your dog has:

- Difficulty breathing
- Vomiting or diarrhea
- Weakness or collapse
- Confusion
- Seizures

Prevention Tips

โœ” Walk during cooler morning or evening hours

โœ” Provide shade and fresh water

โœ” Avoid strenuous exercise in hot weather

โœ” Protect paws from hot pavement

โœ” Keep pets indoors during extreme heat

โœ” Never leave your dog unattended in a vehicle

A little prevention can go a long way in keeping your pet safe and comfortable this summer.

๐Ÿšจ That puddle your dog just drank from could put your entire family at risk.
Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease that spreads through contaminated water, puddles, lakes, wet soil, and the urine of infected wildlife and rodents.
In dogs, it can cause:
๐Ÿพ Kidney failure
๐Ÿพ Liver damage
๐Ÿพ Severe illness or even death

Because leptospirosis is a zoonotic disease, infected dogs can also expose people, making it a concern for the whole family.

โœ… Vaccinate your dog
โœ… Avoid stagnant water whenever possible
โœ… Contact your veterinarian promptly if your dog develops vomiting, lethargy, fever, loss of appetite, or increased thirst and urination

Protect your dog. Protect your family.

๐ŸŒ€ Atlantic Hurricane Season is Here! Is Your Pet Prepared? ๐Ÿพ

Hurricane season runs from June 1 through November 30, and while weโ€™re busy preparing our homes, itโ€™s important not to forget our furry family members!

โœ… Make sure your petโ€™s ID tags and microchip information are up to date
โœ… Have at least 7 days of food, water, and medications ready
โœ… Keep vaccination records in a waterproof container or saved digitally
โœ… Pack a pet emergency kit with leashes, carriers, bowls, litter, comfort items, and recent photos
โœ… Know which hotels, shelters, or evacuation locations accept pets before a storm is approaching
โœ… Never leave pets behind during an evacuation

A little planning now can make a big difference when severe weather strikes. ๐ŸŒดโ˜”
