🎆🐾 Fireworks, Summer Storms & Anxious Pets: Plan Ahead! 🐾🎆
The Fourth of July is right around the corner, and with summer storms becoming more frequent, now is the perfect time to prepare if your pet struggles with loud noises, anxiety, or stress.
Don’t wait until the day of a storm or the night of the fireworks to realize you’re out of medication!
💊 If your pet uses anxiety medications or calming supplements, please request refills early to ensure there is enough time for approval and pickup.
⏰ Plan medication timing ahead of time
Many anxiety medications work best when given 2–3 hours before a storm or fireworks begin. Waiting until your pet is already anxious may make the medication less effective, so be sure to plan ahead whenever possible.
🏠 Create a safe space
Set up a quiet room, crate, or favorite hiding spot where your pet can feel secure during storms or fireworks.
🏷️ Check identification
Make sure collars fit properly, tags are current, and microchip information is up to date. Frightened pets are more likely to escape during loud weather events.
🎵 Reduce outside noise
Close windows and curtains, and consider using a TV, fan, or calming music to help mask loud sounds.
🐶 Exercise before the excitement
A walk or play session before storms or fireworks begin can help burn off nervous energy.
📋 Be prepared
Keep recent photos of your pet, medication information, and emergency contact numbers easily accessible.
